Awesome! Did the press release say if the OT was Special Edition or Original Recipe?
interesting news. I will be waiting to hear what these actually include.
I wish I could trade in my 5 previous versions of the OT.
The Millennium Falcon would make a cool Blu Ray package.
Can't wait to buy it!!! I'll put all my other versions away then, as this should be the ultimate.....
....guess that's when I'll be finally getting a blu-ray player![]()
Well after the 3D versions come out in theaters... we should get the 3D blu-ray. Then in 2025 we are supposed to get the 4D holo rainbow-ray binnary loadlifter anniversary edition.
After that I'd day GL's great grandkids will be working on a final edition of the SW saga. Sometime in 2100.![]()
We should turn this into a "how many versions of SW do you own?"
I currently own 5 between VHS & DVD![]()
.................

And laserdiscs..I have those too.
UPC mail in rebates would be nice for fan loyalty. Seriously!
So, my questions for this are:
1.) What changes will happen between the 2004 edits and the BR edition?
2.) Will they offer an "Original Recipe" version of the OT or is it SEs only? And if it's "Original Recipe", will it be cleaned up or just another LD transfer?
3.) If the answer to #2 is a resounding "no", will some of the ERRORS in the 2004 editions be corrected (IE: fixing the rear channel audio on ANH, fixing some color issues in ANH and ESB, etc.)?
4.) What are the extra 3 discs in the big collectible box that requires me to buy the prequels? I'll make my own decision as to whether those are worth it.
That's it, really. I suspect I'll hold off on buying until a few months after the release.
My hunch on the answers:
1.) and 3.) Some odd edits here or there, but probably no real fixes. And Greedo will still get off a shot at the same time as Han, and Haden's ghost will still be at the end of ROTJ.
2.) [jedimindtrick]There is no "Original Recipe" version. The Special Editions are no longer special editions. They are the ONLY editions.[/jedimindtrick]
4.) A total of about 6 hours of extra features, including various making-of specials. Nothing really new, though, just collected stuff. Hey, they've gotta hold things back for future editions.
And don't hold your breath on "fan loyalty rewards."

I DO hope they use the replaced CG version of Yoda in TPM. I HATED that puppet!
Ok. Well, like you said, we'll see if it's worthwhile, and whether it's shared with the other sets or only in the 9-disc set.
Three original trilogy discs can only mean one thing. Crap. I'll take Star Wars revisited in 1080p please.
That Revisted stuff is more offensive than any edition that Uncle George has offered.
It is garbage.
I'm a purist, and I respect a filmmaker's original vision, so I find Adywan's "stuff" to be quite offensive.
Here's what's posted on sw.com:

Pretty scant on details. Guess they want to tease out the information to keep interest high.
I was at a recent VES screening of Empire at ILM. They screened the HD master. It looked awesome, even on a 60ft screen. the sound was unbelievably cool.
They gave us Posters and JW Rinzler hosted a panel where Phil Tippet, Don Bies, Dennis Muren, Lorne Peterson and Paul Huston answered questions. It made for a very entertaing evening. Then they signed our posters (and my Making of Empire Book) whilst my son had a mock lightsaber battle with his friend in the seats.
Anyway, it looked great and it was the Special Edition Version. I don't think there will be an Original version included, but I could be wrong..
I'm still buying it...
Cheers
Michael
