I never saw The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones on the big screen, so I suppose I could use that as justification for seeing the 3D versions...
I am kind of really curious to see how these theatrical releases do. Will anyone actually pay money to see them again?

I thought the PT was a huge disappointment, yet when I hear about these releases, I start to feel the buzz, a little tingle in my gut...I figure there's a 50/50 chance I'll crack and see them, EVEN THOUGH I DON'T REALLY WANT TO. I don't even like 3D.micdavis said:

I'll have to go. My 7 year old has never seen a SW movie on the big screen, and he's already talking about it. Wow...Jar Jar on the big screen again...in 3D...**sad sigh**
Not too keen myself but I'll probably bring my son to see TPM. It was his favourite of the PT. He fell asleep during AOTC though so I'm not wasting my money on that crap!
To be honest, although again I'll bring my son so he can see it in the theatre, I'm not personally interested in seeing the OT SE in 3D. Especially ESB, the changed dialogue in the Vader/Emperor scene absolutely kills it for me.
I'm so tired of the 3D craze. I'm sorry, some things are cool in that format but to me this is NOT one of them. *sigh* Now if this was a new addition to the Star Wars saga (say episodes 7-9??) then I'd be much more excited....even though I really feel Uncle George would eff that up too...

Nah, it's going to be a blast! I saw, and was transformed forever by the OT starting from age 4; was sorely dissapointed by TPM in the theater as an early 20's geek; then marginally dissapointed in AotC as a mid-20's geek; then kind of "meh." with traces of enthusiasm for RotS as a week-old new daddy. This time I'm taking my boys, who are just old enough now, and I think it's going to be a hell of a good time watching their excitement. Say what you will, but Lucas knows how to tell stories to kids - he's not BSing when he points out that there's a huge generational divide in fans. Those of us that grew up with the OT loathe the new trilogy, kids under 10 love the new films and the Clone Wars, weird but true. I couldn't wait to show my oldest ESB, and while he thought it was great, is more excited for RotJ and AotC, and will pick ANH last for kickball every time. Go figure. Anyways, can't wait to take them, but confused as hell about why LFL would choose to START with TPM, and let the hype die down by releasing one every year only. I mean, OT fans and kids will dish out for ANH, ESB, and RotJ in 3D, and I'm SURE would feel hooked along and need to complete the experience by shelling out for all 6 at the theater again (don't deny it - if you have any love for any of the films, you KNOW you'd be there - if only to see the things on a big screen again, with a hyped audience..."I feel the buried excitement within you, let go of your nerd hate!"). On the other hand, I think it's going to be a harder sell to get OT fans to commit to going to the PT films first, which may set a precedent for them ignoring the release in droves. Since Fox and LFL are saying that conversion of the remaining films rests on the financial success of the first release, it seems like a weird move.
On the topic of the 3D itself - I have pretty much faith in what they're doing. ILM has already put in at least a year working on TPM, with almost a year to go, with a stated objective of not throwing stuff out into the audience, but subtly creating a greater sense of DOF by pushing most stuff back into the screen.
I love the Star Wars films - Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and to some degree Return of the Jedi - but they don't exist anymore. Even Lucas says they don't exist anymore. They only exist now as a crippled shadow of their former selves in the form of the Special Edition versions.Timmythekid said:

Easy pass. I hated Jar Jar in 2d, why the heck would I want to see him in 3d? Maybe so when he's standing right in front of me , I can feel like I can punch him clear in the face?
While I'll probably give it a pass I can't help but think the fight between Darth Maul, Qui Gonn and Ben would look pretty good in 3D.
But that's about the extent of my curiosity in it.
i really don't care for the 3D, but i will go and see them again on the big screen.
I didn't like the PT or SE's in 2D and I don't think the extra D is going to make that big a differences. I think I can find something else to do with the time and money.
I don't think there is a chance in hell I could get Art to pay to go see this but I would be mighty tempted to go because Darth Maul is my absolute favorite and seeing the final battle in 3D would be very cool. However, I am not sure that the 3D is going to be that great since it wasn't filmed in 3D.

My boy is 3 now, and just starting to appreciate superhero stuff, but not quite into star wars yet. We'll be there regardless. I can't miss a chance to see my fav series on the big screen again.
When TPM hit theaters, I went with one of my best buddies who's a BIG fan of the OT just like me.
Although we both had our disappointments about the movie (most of them the same as many of our members here), we both got excited too.
As much as I don't enjoy seeing some of the PT more than once, it's still all part of the big picture even though I don't agree with how it was presented.
For this first 3D installment, my daughter will be 5 and it will be her first chance to see a movie in the theater all the way through, her first 3D, and her first "SW" on the big screen.
To share these with her will be awesome!
And I look forward to watching the Duel of the Fates scene in 3D since it's my favorite scene in the movie.
Not so sure about going to see the prequels in 3D.
But ANH opening scene in 3D with the Cruiser and the Tantive IV awesome.
Also I wasn't even born when ANH was originally released. And missed the special editions at the cinema.
I'll be there, and i'm guesing a lot of you will be to, once the hype starts, you'll get sucked in
