Sons of Anarchy

It really is like a Greek Tragedy, that they are getting right.

I agree with everything you said, and I remember when the show was starting i was reading an interview with the writers and they said they loosely bsed many elements off of Hamlet.

Sutter has even hinted that he plans a five-year run for the series, with each of the five seasons mirroring the corresponding act in Hamlet. Consider that gang leader Clay (Ron Perlman) killed his friend and business partner before marrying that dead man's wife and raising the woman's troubled, haunted son (Jackson "Jax" Teller, played by Charlie Hunnam), and you'll see the clear connections to Claudius, Gertrude and their troubled son.

The biggest problem I have with Sons corresponding to the Hamlet story line is that it gives away what's going to happen. I really hope it's a LOOSE 'corresponding' and Tara doesn't necessarily go crazy and drown herself. :p

Wow. The tension last season was all about threats from outside the club and banding together like family to fight it. Now Samcro is completely imploding!

And while at times it feels like I'm watching different people (wondering if jail does that to people) the show is still strong because of how they are writing it.

What always impresses me with Sons is the way they write women. The scenes between Gemma and the florist, for example. I fear for Gemma, though, she's trying to hold the club together and the town and it's so clear that it's all for nothing. Like bailing out a sinking ship while everyone else is playing in the rising water or trying to steal the life rafts. So sad.

It really is like a Greek Tragedy, that they are getting right.
As exciting as it is to watch, it's also sad because you know that the main characters are never going to have the perfect lives they strive for. Jax may get Tara and the kids, but he'll never be free of the MC. Clay will most likely end up with no close family, and the other club members will be caught in the crossfire. It just seems that true happiness is a long shot, and the outlaw life consumes everything in it's path. Great drama from the first minute to the last.

Sons is starting to lose it's appeal with me. :(

This show used to be about the struggle to do the right thing in the context of loyalty to and what was best for the club and thus each other. The characters were bad guys, but they had intense relationships and looked out for each other.

Yeah, the club was illegally running guns, they were murders etc. but in their universe we were buying into was the notion that in their minds they were at least keeping to a code and kept the really baddies out of town.

They sold it well that when the law can't or won't help them they were stuck, they had to take care of themselves and each other outside of it.

But this season is so different. They seem to be greedy, selfish and stupid - walking into these bad situations and worse, blaming everyone else at the expense of each other.

Part of what I really liked about how they handled Jimmy O last season was that, despite how awful he was, he owned it. He wasn't a coward when the time came, he knew he had it coming.

The way they are writing the Samcro guys, it's like, they want it all, they don't care how they get it, or who they sell out, but they still want to be the good guys in their own minds and blame what happens on everyone else.

For instance, when Jax smacked around the porn star and called her a wh***, spitting in her face, I was thinking you GUYS are the whores!

Maybe where the writers are going is this is what happens when there is no honor left among thieves thing... or showing how jail got to some of them... or how they've just slowly lost all of the scruples. But come on, give us someone to root for already!

On another note about the whole racist issue... Juice said something this week that made me wonder if it was in the charter that they couldn't have color. He was asking about the club breaking rules and if Chibs ever thinks they should break or bend some. Does Juice have some legit reason to think the club would kick him out just because his dad is black?

Whatever the case, Chibs is on to him though, for sure for what happened last night.

I'm not liking Juice's story arc this season, but Theo Rossi is doing the best work of his career, especially in the last couple of episodes. The scene with Clay and the MoM patch was terrific.

Chibs made it sound like it was in the club's charter.

The ending of this past episode was unexpected and OMG.

I must have missed that what Chibs said.

And yeah, that was a shocker for me too. I thought he'd just go confess or something and take his lumps. I do hope he at least left a note explaining what the cop had done.

This series seems to be about the realtionships of the club mainly Clay and Jax and the other fellas are getting sucked into a whirlwind of chaos. I see Piney doing something extreme

We saw a little bit of Stahl in our new A-USA with his little stint with the Sheriff.

Poor Juice

I have to say I have loved this show, since the carnival episode of season 1. Charlie Hunnam is doing a fantastic job as Jax. The only downfall is his heavy trial to lose his brit accent, over the years he has improved on it season by season you can hardly notice it at all now. I really liked how they did the Ireland trip to get Abel back. One thing that both my older brother and I are paranoid about is, when they are meeting with Maureen Ashby Jax has a line like "They took my kid". At this same moment either Maureen Ashby looks at Gemma or Gemma looks at Maureen Ashby. I forget which but I believe it is Maureen looks at Gemma in such a way. It makes me think Jax and Trinity are full brother and sister, not just half. I am not sure if this is just the casting or what, but both Maureen Jax and Trinity are blonde. While both Gemma and the Pictures you see of John Teller are Brunette.

Also on this season it keeps getting better and better I really liked the preseason webepisodes they did, where you see Jax in jail get stabbed by a Russian, and Tara trying to find out the truth about John Teller, off Piney. As far Juice goes, I think he has a great character arc this season, and is still alive after all you can clearly hear the branch brake and a thud. I am assuming this is him falling to ground after trying to hang himself. I also believe it is kinda a rule no people of "African American" blood. I am thinking that the club simply thinks Juice is 1/2 Puerto Rican and 1/2 white, which is why they allowed him in. The fact his biological father is black would get him thrown out of the club on bad terms. I also believe when he was speaking to Chibs he was hinting to how he would feel on the rule of allowing no "African Americans" into the club, and seeing if Chibs would be ok with bending this rule for him.

I also am loving the Character development they are doing with Maggie Siff, she is extremely Beautiful and you can see her character's love for Jax, and sons by trying to have Jax find out the truth about JT, Which we all pretty much have assumed since season 1 that Clay had something to do with his death. It will be interesting to see how the truth gets played out, and if Jax finally finds out Clay helped kill his old man. I do think that at the end of the season Jax finds out that Clay had something to do with his old man's death. I can not wait for Tuesday's newest episode.

so... no branch breaking bait and switch end of the episode this week, eh?

I'd say Clay has lost it, but, this is who he was with J.T. so why should I be surprised?

Yeah, that was a good episode. I have a feeling this season is going to end with one of those incredibly frustrating cliff hangers where you can't wait for more.

:)

SPOILER if you're not current:

So basically Clay is responsible for the death's of both Jax and Opie's fathers? Not to mention (indirectly) Opie's wife? This could get ugly...

I see this getting very ugly. I am guessing the vote for president will be cancelled once Pineys death is discovered. We will see some focus on Juice and Chibs but I am curious of what Bobby's next move might be. Will he back Clay after what has happened to seek revenge for Pineys death or will he suspect Clay and push more.

Yet another reason this show continues to be the best on tv. When you realize that nobody is safe, the stakes just get higher and higher. Props to Sutter for continually topping himself.
