I liked the soundtracks and i am going to get the books off amazon and will get the game for the 360 as i love old school side scrollers. I just noticed that the nicktoons character Kappa Mikey is a bit like Scott even with the anime-ish look so i'm wondering if nicktoons used the comics as an idea jumping off point.

It was over-hyped at SDCC, that's usually a sign that it will blow.

Although so was Watchmen and that rocked.

    Watchmen supports your above statement.

Usually my instincts into what I think I will or will not like are pretty good. But I missed it on Watchmen. I was around when the book came out but it was SOOOOO popular that I steered away from it.

The movie pulled me in a proved me wrong.

I was tricked into reading Watchmen - my friend told me it was a tie in story to Crisis on Infinite Earths or something like that - I picked it up and of course loved it. The movie... not so much.

I'm going to see Scott Pilgrim - Mary Ellizabeth is one of the nicest people on the planet and I always support her movies - I even went to see the latest Die Hard - ugh. She'll always be Royal Pain to me

I would have cast Jon Heder for this, NOT Michael Cera.

She made the film for me. I'll watch anything with her in it. Glad to know she's cool.

Loved the movie for what it was . . .it sure wasn't the comic. Great visuals and music.

    Fun!!!

Yeah, neither my wife nor I were much enamored of the movie itself, but both agreed that she was great.

Finally saw this tonight. As a HUGE fan of the graphic novels, couldn't wait to see the movie, but, well, sigh, feel like Cera was miscast. I'm not anti-MC at all, but the Scott Pilgrim in the books just wasn't "him" if that makes sense. I felt like there was a disconnect between his self-doubting dweeb version of Scott and the one from the books. And I had a hard time buying Ramona just instantly going from being turned off by him to being into him - it was like one scene she wasn't, then next they're in bed. Grr, so wanted to like this one...

I'm not sure how to take this. I thought the movie was ok, but even I'm surprised by this.

    Opening Weekend
    Scott Pilgrim: $10,609,795
    Vampires Suck: $12,202,831

    Said the creator of Girly....

SuperHappy- "Vampires Suck made more on opening weekend than Scott Pilgrim did? I'm sorry, but this gives me complete authority to kill ****ing everybody. You had your chance humanity, but you blew it. This is the 2010s. Fu** fun. Bring on the torture porn and bullsh** fake soap operas like LOST. I've seen so many examples of people outside that culture giving the film a chance and enjoying it. Even OLD people. Uhhh you know what I know this is kind of a tangent, but I meant what I said about LOST. Fu** that soap opera. *Fu** JJ Abrams. I'm so tired of everyone sucking his stupid untalented cock. Fu** him. FFFFFUUU****** HIIIIIM. (omg that felt so good)"

Well, I'd say that more about Star Trek than LOST. :P

I really enjoyed the movie, and so did the friends I went to see it with. I've never read the comics, or seen the animation, or played the game.

As for the killing, I thought it fit perfectly with the film. We did joke a bit about Scott Pilgrim: Mass Murderer, but that is how videogames work.

I guess the movie was just so much fun that I'd really like to see it again. I may pick up the game too.

    Shame about the box office.

Ok, was it just me or would've Keiran Culkin (who was great as Wallace) been a fantastic Scott Pilgrim? Maybe it was just the cocksure attitude and charm he had as Wallace? He just seemed more Scott-like in the movie at times.. in hindsight, maybe he didn't really look the part. Either way, Cera - who can be great (Arrested Development, Superbad), just seemed to be another Cera character.

I can buy Ramona being into him. I've know girls like that - one sec they're cold, the next they're hot. Fickle creatures, these females (sorry, ladies ).

Read the graphic novels. A very fun read... many have predicted it will change comics and that it is the most important comic book of the last 10 years. I don't necessarily agree, but it is a good read.

Jeyl, we live in a world where the Jersey Shore's ratings beat Mad Men's by a factor of three. Talk about a Hollywood stat that makes ya wanna pack it all in, lol...

Oh hey there IS a Scott Pilgrim thread! I just posted some fanart for those who missed it. X) http://www.therpf.com/f12/scott-pilg...-within-94463/

I don't care about ground breaking, I don't care about deep philosophical plots. This movie was graphically brilliant, and I think a huge step forward for comics-to-movies adaption. GRANTED it's technique really only will work on high-paced comic type comics to movies, but it's the only film I've seen in a long time that i wasn't entirely annoyed by split paneling on screen etc. and the cartoonist in me drank in every cartoonish moment. IT WAS A FUN ROMP. And honestly, isn't that the most you can hope for from a movie?

Gotta get the comic asap. The movie helped me get over hating the art style.
