Sandman

I'm of the mind that this really shouldn't be made into a film, so I'm very skeptical.

That said, there's rumors that Gaiman will be executive producer, but again, just rumor. Why they don't make him the writer is beyond me.. it's HIS.

I remember reading some of the script they had for a Sandman movie years ago. It was pretty sound, but ended up getting the plug pulled for some reason. Definitely looking forward to this!

Neil Gaiman has had a near-deity status for me for a very long time. I bought (and still have) Sandman #1 new. I have the Absolute Editions - I am a huge fan of Sandman and Gaiman.

JGL has fast become a favorite of mine. I've really come to enjoy his work - and a lot of the work he does slightly below the radar (Hit Record Joe).

David Goyer should be exiled. Don't let him make another movie.

All that said, JGL isn't quite who I'd pick as Morpheus - it's an interesting choice and one that could work. But, I'm still not sold on it - not sure he quite has the voice or stature for it. I love that he mentioned Gaiman and that he will be working with him on this.

I still feel - like Watchman (and even that movie worked better than it should've, even as far from perfect as it was) - that this would work best as an AMC/HBO style series. I don't think we'd see that type of commitment from JGL (at least as the star).

No. No. Just please. No. Don't even go there. :)

I mean I LOVE her in New Girl, but Death she is not.
I was kidding when I mentioned her... but, upon thinking about, I really think should could pull it off. Of course, this would mean that she would have to act and not just play the same character that she's done the last few years. She has a certain kind of charm... but, I'm not sure she has the depth to pull off Death. She certainly as an ethereal quality to her.

I do wonder if Michelle Dockery can do this. She's always played stern characters (mostly Lady Mary, Downton Abbey) and I'm not sure she can do something as... whimsical (?) as Death.

Speaking of Downton, Jessica Brown Findlay sure could to it as well... while she might lack the poise of Dockery, she has the charisma and whimsy of Death.

A few more to consider, Lyndsy Fonseca, Ruth Negga, Tuppence Middleton. Two I hate to mention for a few reasons (mostly their popularity), but might do it justice: Chloë Grace Moretz and Emma Stone (who might be amazing as Death).

Before Nikita, I thought Lyndsy Fonseca was fine, but I wasn't very impressed with her in that show. I do think Mia Wasikowska wouldn't be entirely out of consideration, though the problem is that you don't want to get TOO ethereal with the casting. You need someone who has the whimsical, ethereal aspect, but also is overly mature and able to play multiple emotions at once while masking them at the same time.

Death is an amazingly complex character (much more so than Dream is), they would need to find someone quite good to pull that off.

Frankly, I don't care if it's Scooby Doo writing the script. As long as Gaiman is there to keep things in check, it'll be alright.

After seeing the Maze Runner, I think Kaya Scodelario would make a very solid Death. While I didn't find her performance all that exciting or remarkable, she was solid and with the right script, she might be a great Death... admittedly, I haven't seen her do anything else and she might lack the chops to pull it off - but, she certain l has the right look.

While I can sort of see JGL as Morpheus, I think Ethan Hawke would do far better at it. As for Death, Lindsey McKeon would, I think, be about the best anyone could reasonably hope for. Anyone who saw the second season premiere of Supernatural ("In My Time of Dying") knows what I mean.

I have to disagree about Zooey Deschanel as a possibility. Remember, New Girl is a Character she's playing, not the actual person. Look at some of her other performances such as in "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" and "Bridge to Terabithia" I think she'd do just fine.
Back when John Carpenter's Vampires came out, I thought Thomas Ian Griffith Would have been perfect looking like he did in that movie -

Death is a favorite of mine for a very long time, threats have been made to put her to film also a very long time.
I don't know if I want her put to film anymore. I have her in my head now a certain way and maybe I don't want that changed now.
