As a die hard Flyers fan I cannot wait for this! Should be epically bloody as the Flyers of the 70's were extremely violent!
Rob Zombie to write/direct a Flyers film called 'Broad Street Bullies'

For those who have no idea who the "The broad Street Bullies" were. Here is a HBO series trailer that was done on them last year

I agree Tim, Im also a die hard Flyers fan plus Im fron Philly. I think this is great news, it should have a nice gritty feel to it. Cant wait to see some of the casting for Clarke, Clement, Parent, and the rest.
Definitely sounds interesting. I wonder how much liberty will be taken though.
Lifelong Flyers fan.
Between the Flyer's, Kiss and Star Wars, it was a great time to be a kid.
I grew up in Philly and my grandfather used to take to Flyer's games when I was younger. I remember going to the parade when they won. Later we even had Bobby Clarke and Bill Barber show up as as special guests for one of our sports banquets. That was awesome.
@blakeh1 - see yr from Warminster, Im right up the road from you in Jamison. I cant wait to see Zombie put a gritty twist on it or how he'll make the Russians look after they wanted to quit after the first period lol
Unfortunately I was born and grew up to late to see any of those great teams. I got hooked on the Flyers when I played goalie as a little kid and Hextall was in his prime kicking butt and taking names.
I'll tell ya its hard to be a a Flyers fan when you can only see your team play twice a year at best![]()
Completely understand Tim. If you ever make it out this way shoot me a message Ill hook you up with a game or two from my season tickets![]()
That sucks Tim. But you know what, this past year, it may have been for the best to only see them twice this year. HAHA.
This is pretty great. I cannot wait to see what is made of this. I like you Tim was born in the 80's, so it is only history for me. But if you are a Flyers fan in this city, you are bred to know the Broad Street Bullies. That HBO special was really great. I actually watched it last August when I was on vacation(Our whole family went to disney, Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces nephews, grammom, the works) and was sick from the Florida sun and water. I actually still play goalie now though @ 29 because I grew up wanting to play goal thanks to Mr. Hextall.
As for the film, I really didn't like Rob's interpretation of the Halloween films. They were too much like horror movies nowadays, lots of gore, but no real scares. And a bunch of teenagers just cursing way more than normal people, even teenagers, normally do. I am excited to see what he makes of our city, but am also curious how Rob Zombie got attached to this project? (aside from a general love for hockey)
Warminster, AWESOME. I am in Willow Grove, near the Best Buy & Turnpike entrance. Nice to meet some locals.
Yeah the air shows were great, you could see the planes even in Roslyn & Glenside. For a while there, they were throwing big country concerts. At least for a year or two they did. But yes, good memories from the Air Show. Now all we have is the Regal theater, and not the Drive In that is now a Target & TGI Fridays.
I randomly met Hextall a few years ago on Christmas Eve when he and his family came into my restaurant for dinner. I had to do a double take when I saw him walk in, and almost crapped my pants when i realized it actually was him. No one in the restaurant had a clue, but being he was my childhood idol it was a really cool experience and was nice to chat with him for a short while.

I'm a red wings fan (being from Detroit) but it will be interesting to see what Zombie does with a hockey movie.
Yeah I guess in OC, you are fairly close to Kings Country. That is really cool though. Heck, I bet this time last year if Jon Quick walked into your restaurant, no one would have had a clue. I could be wrong, but I know hearing about LA Dodgers fans, that they are very fairweather, so I cannot imagine the hockey scene being much different.
But you do have lots of Flyers alum, Richards, Carter, Gags, Justin Williams, Hextall, John Stevens. I feel like there may even be more.
It's weird him directing something that isn't a slasher film.
Just so long as he doesn't do another Halloween movie...
As a native South Phila guy , Born and raised there, and having gone through the whole Broad Street Bullies experience, It will be interesting to see how this goes.
Can someone please tell me what a Broad Street Bully is? Never heard of it before![]()
