Esther Williams, Swimming Champion Who Became a Movie Star, Dies at 91

Esther Williams, a teenage swimming champion who became an enormous Hollywood star in a decade of watery MGM extravaganzas, died on Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif. She was 91.
Her death was announced by her publicist, Harlan Boll.
 
God bless her. A good long life.

She was a real throwback to another time. Every one of her movies featured musical numbers centered around swimming routines, and she was a top box-office draw in her day. Sounds unbelievable now.

I know she was married to Fernando LLamas, but is she Lorenzo's mom? Anyone know?
 
We're losing a lot of the good stars lately. I just wish we had someone to replace them with of equal quality.
