I'm watching it right now, and I really don't know......Am I the only one that likes this movie? Yeah, sure, it is cluttered, but I really like this movie. The action is cool, and I think The Venom design is beautiful. I don't even mind the dark Peter Parker all that much!

So, what's the deal? Am I in the minority, because I know A LOT of people hate this movie...........

yes....that movie sucks, the story is a mess, (comic fanboy compalint) it wastes the characters of both venom and gwen stacy, but other than that its a total mess anyways...the whole screenplay is a ...its the batman and robin of the spiderman flicks....

    I like the movie, too.
Most people cite the dance number for why the whole is bad.
I do, however, think there was too much. Sandman was well done and Venom was wel done, but both in the same movie AND the new Green Goblin was too much.
One person hated that they had Brock in the same church that Parket is fighting the symbiote at the same time but that is directly from the comics.

I liked it too. It's not as good as the first two, but it's definitely not horrible. I don't think there was really too much going on, the two villains made a good opportunity for Harry to let go if his grudge against Peter and help him. I also think it ended on a good note, Harry forgiving Peter, and Peter forgiving Sandman.

The bad things (in my opinion) were Eddy Brock, I didn't like him at all. Gwen wasn't an important character like she should have been, and the biggest thing was Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer. They shouldn't have messed with something as important as that.

The dance scenes were dumb, but not bad enough to ruin the whole movie.

I still watch the movie every now and then, and enjoy it.

I was so amped about Spiderman 3 before it came out... looked amazing in the trailer, part 2 (IMO) way outdid part 1... it had so much going for it. Then I saw it opening day, and... well, left the theater with a horrible taste in my mouth.

Among many, MANY other things - one of the biggest things I hated was how they went back and changed the story of how Uncle Ben was killed. Do we really need that? All the SM movies suffer from the problem of trying to make you sympathize with the villains. Green Goblin = good guy made evil by serum. Doctor Octopus = good guy made evil by robotic tentacles. Green Goblin 2 = good guy turned evil by the death of his father. Sandman = good guy turned to crime to save his sick daughter (then the gun "accidentally" goes off and kills Uncle Ben??? How stupid!). Then they all need their "redemption" scene at the end. Can't we just get a villain who's a villain because he's just a p***k? Then we'll enjoy seeing Spiderman really beat his *ss.

And since I'm off now about ALL the SM movies - what the hell was Doc Ock's plan? He robs banks... ok... to do what, exactly? Go to Lowe's and buy everything in cash to rebuild his machine??? Then he wants Peter Parker to bring Spiderman to him - so he first approaches him BY THROWING A CAR AT HIM. Good thing Peter Parker had that spider sense and super fast reflexes. Ok - thats not about SM3, but shows the writing of these movies weren't the best and got exponentially worse with the last one. So much of it was just a rewrite of part 2. I was a big fan of Sam Raimi before it but thought he really dropped the ball with Spiderman.

EDIT: There, I made paragraphs for you, lol

    Holy wall of text, Batman.

Beyond what's already been stated, it kills me that the butler waited years before telling Harry "oh, Spider-man didn't kill your father so no need to swear revenge or anything." The fact that viewers have invented the theory that it's a hallucination shows that scene was at best poorly executed.

I despised that movie so much that my friend tried to give me one for free and I turned him down. It was just a mess of a story and after seeing it once I wasn't surprised they decided to reboot the series.

That's the best scene in the movie. Really well done. I wish the rest was the same.

For those hating that they changed the ben angle - are they going to be mad at the new one for changing the backstory as well?

Well it depends on how much they change, and how well done it is. But based on what I know as of now, my answer is no. My main problem with Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer is that they already established who killed him in the first movie, and the Sandman thing seemed kind of like a last minute thing they threw in to give him more importance in the story.

I liked it but havn't watched it since 2007 when it came out and I was 11 years old haha!
I never read the comics or watched any cartoons of Spidey though. Also I'm the kind of guy who can enjoy most movies as long as they're entertaining - for example I enjoyed Transformers 1 and 2 (didn't get around to seeing 3).

I still enjoy watching it. Yeah, when I saw it in theaters when it came out I was pretty pissed, but you shouldn't let overblown expectations ruin a movie for you.

That said, there are definitely still aspects of it I just can't stand (I'm looking at you, dance scene). Also, since when was Peter a jazz pianist? I can buy that he can dance, but you don't just sit down at a piano and magically be able to play it that well. Would people have accepted that he was suddenly a saxophone virtuoso? Violinist?

Also, retconning Uncle Ben's killer was just an insult. But that aside, Sandman absolutely carries that movie. I think he's the best villain of all the Raimi movies.

But seriously, is it really necessary for Peter Parker to have a personal connection to every single super villain in New York? How many millions of people live in that city? Just let him stumble upon some ******* criminal who's threatening a bunch of people in some nefarious scheme. Spidey's a hero, he fights crime and saves lives, that's his motivation. It doesn't need to be any more personal than that.

Anyway, other than the dance scene, and the Peter-with-newfound-*******-confidence-walking-down-the-street-pointing-at-girls scene, I still quite enjoy the film. Like I said, pretty much all of the Sandman scenes are bad ass.

And like Hecubus said, Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 did some pretty stupid **** for a genius. Even though everyone agrees it was the best Raimi Spider-Man film, it had some aspects that really annoyed me as well. Peter was just a little too 'emotional' for a little too long.

Spider-Man 2 is STILL my favorite super hero movie. It just nails the vibe of the seventies John Romita Spider-Man world and brings it to life. Best Super Hero/Villain fight too (clock tower to elevated train sequence). The last scene between Mary Jane and Peter is perfect.

There are things in Spider-Man 3 I like a lot. Sand Man's creation/rebirth sequence is beautiful. The aerial combat between Harry (as the new Goblin) and Spidey early on is FUN. But beyond that, yeah, emo Parker and venom don't do much for me. Too much going on.

This remains the only movie I have ever walked out of at the movie theater, 258 million dollars and that is what they gave us. Shame on them.

The only part I like is the dark Peter stuff - when he exits the clothing store and does that stupid dance number - priceless.

The dance number was nowhere near as bad as the butler telling Harry that he tended his father's wounds when he died and he knows without a doubt the fatal stab came from the glider - so Spider-man is innocent. Feed him to the Sharktacons!

Spider-Man 2 is my favorite as well. I really love Spider-Man 3 as well I think it is a lot of fun. I particularly love that first scene with the Sandman as well.

To be fair I found the trio of villains in Spider-Man 3 a lot more entertaining than The Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man, which I found to be a very generic villain.
