Okay... so maybe someone can explain the ending of these two movies... the infamous "spin around the Earth" endings. I ask these, because I recently showed these movies to someone who didn't understand what was going on. I could venture some guesses, but the truth is that from what I saw on the screen, these endings make no sense.
Now, the impression I got from this was that Superman actually travels fast enough around the Earth to travel backward in time.
In the motion picture, Superman either goes back in time himself or turns back time... whatever... after Lois dies. So he goes back to the point that Lois is in the car and the car dies. Yet, the fissure created by the earthquake appears to have stopped behind her car. There doesn't appear to be any apparent reason for this.
In Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman once again flies around the Earth and it appears stops anything from happening. Why wouldn't things progress normally once time resumes? Wouldn't everything happen again? And what is up with that ending with the guy in the diner? If he had gone back in time and changed everything, that fight never would have happened.
Knowing that there are some hard core fans of these movies on this site, I thought I would ask.
