Prometheus or Nostromo......which would you like the keys to?

Two very different vessels yet tied together with certain similar art direction, which one would want your Captains patch labelled with?

The look and feel of the Nostromo is timeless, it dictates the personality of whoever its crew is, even the clinical Ash couldnt keep the grime off. I could easily replace myself with Ripley sitting back in that chair with a coffee and a durry watching ones and zeros glide by.

The Prometheus is an entirely different beast, seen in 3D, I thought it was incredibly sexy, just wanted to loaf around in my jocks and slippers and head to Waylans bar with the sound system up full blast.

Guess in the end for me its the Nostromo, bathing looks optional and theres more places to slack off. Bare in mind smoking is allowed on both vessels, cheers Rid.

Neither, I prefer the Sulaco!

Im 6ft 5in tall, that bird has too much stuff hangin from the roof, Occupational Health and Safety issues as far as the eye can see, power loader soccer at smoko would be fun though.

Fast is sexy. I'd go for the faster ship every time. Nostromo, hands down.

Was thinking about the speed factor, would be cool to compare tech specs of both if they exist , which raises another old meaningless but interesting thing for mine, is the Nostromo held back due to towing a refinery the size of a small city or does it not matter in the physics of that universe?

Prometheus has the big-screen and the wet bar. It's a no-brainer.

Prometheus is more of a sports car compared to the Nostromo, which itself is more like a minivan, and the Sulaco's a full size SUV.

Minivan?? Nostromo does forty-seven times the speed of light while towing a mile-long refinery. I call THAT the performance option!

Sulaco is a Hummer with a Mk-19 strapped to it.

Prometheus. Nostromo is a cooler looking ship, but the amenities on Prometheus (big screen, wet bar, gym, not to mention a garage with several rovers) pretty much seals the deal for me.

(On the offchance anyone cares, Nostromo was 'ten months from Earth' at Zeta II Reticuli, a system that's 39 light years away. Prometheus takes over two years to get to a system that's unknown, but is located about 32 light years away - "Location: 3x10^14 km from Earth").

No argument that Sulaco is quicker than either, obviously; it's a warship that is decades newer. You could probably strap it to the Nostromo's refinery and it would still be quicker. But it's not in the OP. What did it do the Acheron run in - two weeks, from memory? So, yeah, damn quick. Why'd they even have hypersleep capsules?

I think id use the Prometheus to get to work and just tinker with the Nostromo on the weekends.

Prometheus seems brand new, outfitted by a rich guy for exploring. Nostromo is an old oil tanker.

True, but you can drive Prometheus standing up, ya gotta strap yourself in if you take out the Nostromo. Like space travel driving stick.

I'll take the Prometheus. It is the perfect road trip machine. First of all, the rotating engine pods have a nice Serenity/Firefly slant to it (imagine how much fun one could have maneuvering the thing like Wash). The engine tech seems a little better (sure it might be slower at higher than light speeds, but if you spend time in hypersleep, who cares). The bay is equipped with one cool recreational vehicle and ATVs. So when you land on a planet, you can drive to your destination (unlike Nostromo where you have to walk places unless you use that open top mine survey ATV). It also has a basketball court which doubles as a holo-theater of sorts.

I'll admit, Nostromo has a better lifeboat though in the form of the Narcissus (which is an actual shuttle as opposed to a mobile home caravan) and Nostromo has some cooler eye candy. But I like a smaller vessel designed to go places as opposed to the semi-truck that just tows big things places. Plus, as complicated as Nostromo could be, you need some engineers that just spend time griping about things (well, one does while the second guy just walks around saying "Right" all the time). Nostromo IMHO also had a cooler hat and patch design (the Prometheus wardrobe overall was neater though and the name tags made sense).

As for Sulaco, yes very appealing. I love the guns (and nukes) that it carries. But one has to ride an express elevator to hell to get anywhere planet side. I hear the cornbread on board sucks too.

Can I take 'em both for a spin....?

Quite right, that vessel required a shuttle, something on which one can take tea during the journey.
