Just curious. I've read a number of sites (mosty message boards) where people take a guess, but can't seem to find anything authoritative.
Thanks,

I think he's referring to the planetary designation - LV-426
According to Cameron, the LV in that sense, had no meaning and was used only as to enhance the notation of navigation.
A lot of planets and stars have odd prefixes like that, i think it makes it easier for them to catalog them.
My guess would be it calls out an area of space, LV-426 meaning the 426th star of the LV Sector/Quadrant/Hemisphere.
But thats just my nerdy guess.
It's Spanish-German for "The What"
Las Vegas - the derelict was going to be the new Starbust lounge.
Louis Vuitton
In Ridley Scott's future, corporations run things instead of governments. Maybe Louis Vuitton manufactures spacesuits in exchange for naming rights of planets as marketing.
