"As announced earlier today (A First Look At The Brand New Comic Star Wars (With Darth Vader Illustrated By Alex Ross!)), I’m writing an ongoing Star Wars book for Dark Horse. Not just any Star Wars book, this will be called “Star Wars”, and will be set in the original trilogy, using the classic characters, and will pretend like its 1977 and no other films were every made or books ever written aside from “A New Hope”. Carlos D’Anda is on art, Gabe Eltaeb on colors, and Alex Ross on covers.

There will be more info tomorrow and an interview, but I bet this strikes people as an odd move. Maybe not? But LucasFilm asked for me personally, and I felt it too irresistible a job to pass up. I’m three scripts into it and having fun. The book launches in Dec or January. Oh yeah, Leia’s an X-Wing pilot."

I like Brian Wood enough... but, I just don't see him as Star Wars type author. Wood's one of my favorite authors - Demo and Local are just amazing. He seemed to get a lost a bit on DMZ and Northlanders was solid for what it was. I'm hopeful the massive is more a return to form.

I hope this means we see another, less angst-y side of Wood. I remember a question asked on his Tumblr if he'd ever do something a little less serious - and you could almost hear him deadpan his answer with a stern 'no.'

...and Alex Ross should not be allowed to draw or paint Star Wars. Ever.

But seriously this comic does strike as an odd move. That doesn't stop me from reading it when it's released though.

Thats a really intersesting idea! Will follow what happens with this.
