Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

It is AMAZING!!!

Love the new TARDIS, Script was great. Infact, I only have two problems with it:

Sound mix: Voices were a bit drowned out. Could literraly hear crickets over the Doctor. Also, some music from The Christmas Invasion was used rather repetitively.

New theme tune: Is possibly the worst version ever. I know some people may say that it is to change, but I really did not like it. The baseline was all wrong. Rest of the music is brilliantl though.

Final Verdict: FANTASTIC!!!

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Really enjoyed it; his new companion is CUTE! :love

From the compilation/trailer of upcoming episodes I'm looking forward to the olive green WW2 Daleks!

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

The plot is designed to serve the doctor and amy - so the stuff with the weekly big-bad is a bit convoluted. The CGi is terrible in places (space ship looks downright stupid) and Mat Smith is far from relaxed in the role.

However - pretty damn good for all that. Pretty damn good.

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Not particularly impressed with the new theme, although perhaps that may grow on me...

Storyline I thought was standard Dr Who stuff, pretty good but with some great touches in the script!

... as to the new Tardis interior - I hate it, in particular the new central console, it's just terrible :thumbsdown

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

I must admit, I was a bit unsure about Matt Smith to begin with, having thought David Tennant was so good, but this first episode blew me away, he is brilliant.

The story was superb, and a great way to introduce the new doc, and the new assistant is a perfect choice. The best stories of the first few series...like Blink, The Girl in the Fireplace were all by Steven Moffat, so I'm really looking forward to the new episodes to come.

Any Doctor Who fans who have not seen this episode yet will not be disappointed!:love:love:love

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Amy Pond should come with a cuteness warning sticker ... Never had a particular thing for redheads, but I'm warming up to the cause !

Some of the previews were fantastic.

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

(in the voice of chandler bing)

could he talk any faster.

cripes. talk about cramming as much techno babble into as sort a space of time as possible. he should get the gold award. seriously. how about a pause for dramatic tension

good companion intro, but I expected better from moffat

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Shaping up nicely. Quite liked Smith and always glad to see a cute redhead. I thought the new Tardis console looked a mess - totally unbelievable as an actual workable machine. Plot was pretty basic for this episode but it had some nice touches - the dog in particular.

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Not bad at all,i was sure i'd hate Matt Smith,but...he was quite good, some good lines, hot companion, new sonic...
The what's coming next looks amazing
It's already online ,sorry i don't think i'm allowed to post a link,do a search...

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Loved it! Matt Smith blew me away, he just seems Doctor like for some reason. I really thought he was gonna suck. The new companion is uber lovely!!! I can't wait for the rest of the series...... Spitfires in space!

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

We all thought it was excellent. Amy Pond is gorgeous and Matt Smith grew on me - he'll never be 'my' doctor (The totally mad Tom Baker) but looks like a great replacement for Tennant.

Moffat had to do a lot in this episode and it worked well - once again we have a series to look forward to!

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Honestly the only thing I didn't like was how....... inappropriate the new time rotor looks. I like the rest of the console, though. Liked the new intro video, the song was a little bland. Amy Pond wins for hottest companion ever, and Smith was excellent as the Doctor.

SPOILER

I really liked the 14 years touch.

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

i hated the new song at first, but after listening to the full song it definitely grew on me.

I kind of like the mishmash tardis, though the column could use something more

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Just got finished with it. Absolutely brilliant. Matt Smith is a bit awkward, a bit rough around the edges, but I'm sure it will smooth out.

So excited for the new series!

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

Yea, the lighting in the show made that set look so much better than the RadioTimes shots.

Re: New Docor Who Tonite (for those in the UK)

For those of us in the US, it is on youtube.

Great episode. April 3 is going to be day I never forget for sure. A new Doctor takes over, and I was flying solo for the first time at work today...

:lol omg you're right!! How long is going to be before someone on the production team realises that?

I'm sure the Tardis interior is an impressive set to stand on, but it looks like a confused jumble to me, yuk.
