Huh, that "chain reaction" flic with Keanu Reeves and Morgan Freeman, maybe? I´ve never seen it but I do remember it´s about a new source of energy.

..... I still can't get a forest in there somewhere out of my head though. Don't think Chain Reaction had anything of the sort. The 'professor' lived on an island off NYC or something, if I recall correctly.

Mosquito Coast?? More of a tropical setting, but the main character dies at the end.

Chain Reaction has a forest scene as well...

The more I think about it, the more confused I get. I just can't place the movie. I'm beginning to think I made it up in my head, but I I'm so sure, its uncanny.

I wanted to watch Chain Reaction last night, and lo & behold, I can't find the DVD.

Chalk yet another missing DVD down to our eldest making off with them over the years to friends' houses etc

I swear, one of these days I'm going to present him with a bill & invoice him for the lot.

Well, actually, I will do it with my eldest (son), & middle (daughter). Can't 'blame' him for stuff like 'Bridget's Jones Diary' going AWAL.

Over the years, I must have around 30 missing DVDs. It makes me FURIOUS every time it happens. Want to watch something, and its gone.

Ordered it from play now & have to wait to watch it.

Sorry for the rant, but that really p***s me off, lack of respect for property.

I also remember that a movie that was similar out at about the same time if not the very same year. I cannot remember the name of it right now though.
It has not been named so far.
Now I need to go looking for it.
It did not do well in the box office and don't remember seeing it on video.

Not yet. Even asked a few friends about it and they remember the movie but they do not recall the name of it either.

OK, this gets more complicated

I got Chain Reaction & watched it last night. Not it. And worse, no jungle, no 'island off NYC'.

But I think I've nailed the movie I'm after, all but in name.

Basically, its 2 people, a man & a woman, who go through a whole series of chases etc, and end up on an 'island' off a big city (NYC ?) at a luxurious house, looking for a Professor (?) who had gone into hiding and changed his name (?), and he holds a formula or something. I also remember a big 'explosion' / huge blue flash of light towards the end of the movie. I somehow also remember the couple on a motorcycle getting away from the 'explosion'.

Any ideas ??? This is really frustrating

Chain Reaction. But you say it's not that. Sure sounds like it.

A few bits and pieces kind of sound like what I remember of the second Highlander movie. I may just be thinking of that because you mentioned Connery in your first post though.
