MLP: FiM is pretty awesome. It's similar to the Powerpuff Girls, a show that at first glance would be most appropriate for little girls, but has some very adult themes and references. MLP was created by one of the people responsible for PPG, so it feels very familiar.

The ponies (and other supporting characters) all have very distinct and well-defined personalities, and are all weird in their own way. The show is a typical situational-based show that has a moral about friendship catering to the younger crowd, but it's just so well executed that it's enjoyable to the older viewers as well. There are enough pop-culture references thrown in for the adults (e.g., a pony version of The Jesus shows up for a second when the ponies go bowling), many of the lines are quotable (needs to be 20% cooler) and there are times the show can get downright creepy and weird. It's awesome.

It's honestly one of the best cartoons out there right now, storywise and animation wise.

I hate to say it, but I watch it with my GF and our little girl. It's really not bad at all. I was very surprised.

I have it DVR'ed for my daughter. But...I can't really invest myself in it. It's like watching a movie that's good; Except everyone is a pony. Can't do it...

Ever seen "Power Puff Girls" or "Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends?" MLP:FIS was created by the same woman, Lauren Faust, and she's a hell of a writer.

I actually liked Powerpuff Girls back in the day, but I just can't get into FiM. I had several people recommend it and I actually tried very hard to enjoy it, but there was just nothing there for me.

On a side note, our server admin for the RPF is the biggest brony I have ever seen!

It's one of those great shows that appeals to those outside of its target demographic. It's well written, well animated and really quite funny. It's just fun to watch something thats completly innocent, and nonsensical. Another show I really like that's quite like that is Adventure Time, in fact I think I prefer Adventure Time to My Little Pony.

The Brony fanbase is a bit strange though, they can do amazing things (like setting up their own cons and pulling together to donate to charity) but the longer I've spent in the fanbase the more intollerable I'm starting to find it. I don't mind if people want to be Bronies or whatever but it annoys me when they try to crowbar ponies into EVERYTHING. That and trying to force people to become bronies are things that have started to get on my nerves. Also there was a really nasty incident where a Brony fan dubbed character 'derpy hooves' was given a talking role in an episode, but the characters voice and name was changed in a later airing of the episode. Anyway, this resulted in some Bronies sending death threats to an artist I know who they wrongly accused to having the character changed. I always find it how ironic it is to have a fanbase that is based on love and tolerance that seems to turn to death threats and ugliness whenever things dont go their way. And I'm not even going to start on how messed up the 'rule 34' section of this fandom is...

All in all it's a great show and I'll probably still watch it when the new series comes out but for now I'm trying to avoid getting involved with the fanbase.

The STARWARS fanbase is a bit strange though, they can do amazing things (like setting up their own cons and pulling together to donate to charity) but the longer I've spent in the fanbase the more intollerable I'm starting to find it. I don't mind if people want to be JEDI'S or whatever but it annoys me when they try to crowbar STARWARS into EVERYTHING. I fixed your quote to fit another fanbase....and that fanbase rule 34 section is also...somewhat weird.

    Hello… my name is Yen-Chih, and… I am a Brony…

I watched it out of curiousity and after the sixth or seventh episode I got hooked on. First I didn't understood, what appeals it to other bronys, but now I know it. And I AM PROUD BEING A BRONY! *Brohoof* /)(\

I'm a bit of a brony. I've seen a lot of first season but not much since then.

THIS is a little out of line though:

I've never seen one minute of this show. Infact, I didn't even know it was a show. I know a show existed in the 80's when I was growing up. But that was meant to be a show for little girls.

I loved the Power puff Girls. Real funny show. Very under appreciated. But I am not going to run around w/a green dress and a Bubbles wig. This is the same thing IMO. Again, I've never seen or even heard of the show. I've heard of "bronies" and thought for some reason, it was grown men loving or rediscovering the 80's My Little Ponies". Why, I didn't know. But who was I to say one way or another.

Again, I've never seen this show, and can only go on what your saying. If it is actually a legit funny show that adults can appreciate like Ed, Edd & Eddy or Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, etc, etc etc. Ok. Great. Good for them.

But why the need for grown men My Little Pony conventions?? What is next, Gem? Rainbow Bright? Strawberry Shortcake?? I don't know, I just think it is somewhat weird for a media that is directed primarily @ little girls to be so widely accepted, even heralded, by grown men probably separated in age by an average of 15-20 years. Even Powerpuff girls was targeted by a wider audience. But MLP, that just to me screams 6 year old girls.

To me, it is the equivalent of senior citizen men, or the opposite, 7 year old boys, seeing a really funny Tampax commercial, and starting up a "brotherhood" and conventions of men who love......you know what...I am just gonna stop right there. (the idea worked so much better not on paper) I just don't see the reason for such fanaticism for something so far away from the target audience, short of watching and enjoying the show.

Haha amazing! Never been too heavily involved in the starwars fandom so I didn't really know how similar it was :P The reason I mention rule 34 in relation to MLP though is because of how widespread it is in the community, and it's just so messed up since the show is originally intended for little girls. Why would people feel the need to do this to a show about animated ponies for crying out loud!

My little girls watch it, and I have seen it a ton..........I don't understand the following at all.

It appears to be a cartoon for young girls to me.

I do agree that the brony fanbase can get weird, but as shown before, substitute anything with MLP (Star Wars, anime, video games, etc), and there are the obsessive extremes as well. I think it's just weirder in the case of MLP and bronys, because the immediate response is "My Little Pony is for girls."

I just find the show entertaining. For some reason my fiance reminds me of a cross between Applejack and Pinky Pie.

If you wiki the episode listings, you can find nearly every episode in HD on Youtube.
