    Today especially going to the cinema has been brought into question, and indeed a lot of people have had a similar attitude to Brad Bird on twitter: '...makes me more determined to catch a movie this weekend to spite the *******. Testify. Double down on life.' This itself is being talked about in Vivek's 'Go See A Movie In A Theater This Weekend' thread.

    And personally I think that's great, but It's becoming harder to do! Heading to the cinema today just after lunch cost me £10 (right now that's US$15.60) and that's cheap!

    So that got me thinking, how much are other people paying? Not that we can change anything by knowing, I'm just curious, and probably a sucker for punishment!

    I see the cranked-up the IMAX tickets. They were $17.99 not too long ago. Movies haven't been costing me much lately as I've been using Movie Cash coupons off Blu-Rays or buying my tickets for about $2 cheaper at AMA. Also, I save up Scene points and think I have enough for 3 free movies now. I also save iCoke points from coke bottles and get free movie tickets that way.

    Shenango valley cinema (the nice new one with cops around always)
    8.50 adult, 6.25 senior and kids,
    the sleezy theater with the teens and poor security is 3.00 for everyone. rather pay the extra and not have to worry about the issues and they're only open in evenings.

    I usually go to the odeon near me. I'm a student so it costs £8.60 for a premier seat, £7.50 for standard. I always go premier when its not full, it's only £1.10 more and I don't mind cause I think the cinema is worth it. I really believe in supporting cinemas where possible just because I love going so much. Also that was a peak rate in Somerset UK.
    The other cinema I go to is the student cinema at my University. It's £2.50 a ticket or you can buy a 5 film pass for £10. They play films that are fairly new (about 2 months after they're in a regular cinema) as well as old and cult classics. It's a great oppertunity to see films on the big screen that were made before I was born

    Normally it's around $7.25 but Summer movies $5.50 besides new ones on opening weekend

    I didn't look up the drive in but i'm not even sure they're online. Dude puts it up for sale every winter for the last 20 years or so and when it doesn't sell he opens it in the summer.

    My wife and I do double feature nights at the Drive in.
    We pay the following:

    Adult ticket: $4.00 each
    Snacks: free from home

    Total cost to see two BRAND NEW movies in the comfort of our air-conditioned car, with surround sound speakers blasting out the sound (tuned in on radio station), with no other people talking or children crying....

    $8.00

    Going to see Dark Knight this weekend and just to see that film will cost $2.00 each!! You can't beat the deal

    I'm not sure exactly the cost of the night shows near me, cause when I go, it's usually matinee weekend pricing, or the local theater also does $5 shows for everything on Tuesday nights as their special.

    But, lately I haven't bought any movies cause the theater gave me a bunch of free passes for costuming in their lobby so I can go for free for quite a while now.

    Before 5pm

    Adult £6.00 Adult 3D £8.00
    Senior/Child £5.00 Senior/Child 3D £6.50
    Student £5.20 Student 3D £6.70
    Family of 4 £19.50 Family of 4 3D £26.60
    RealD 3D Glasses 80p

    After 5pm

    Best thing is though, Orange Wednesdays, 2 for one tickets. When me and the wife go and watch TDKR this wednesday it's only going to cost us £7.00 for both of us (about $11)

    I paid $12.50 to see Frankenstein and Dracula last Friday at Film Forum in NYC.

    On July 4th I thoguht about taking my wife and kid to see Spidey in 3D at the Ziegfeld in NYC, but the tickets would have been $51.50 for all of us. Thought that was a bit much.

    Imax tickets are $12 here, $14 if 3D. For other movies, I've decided to go to the local cheap theater. Sure it's small, but you can't beat $6 regular showing and $4 matinees! And they still have the digital projectors and decent sound systems, so quality's not really an issue.

    $18 for general admission, $15.50 if you're a student. Vmax is a few more dollars. Imax is $35
