Godzilla (2014)

Just picture G stomping Tom Snooze into a stain and you will purge that vibe.

I highly recommend to watch the director's film "Monsters".
You will see why he was selected for this film.
I also think that he hasn't been incorporated into studio think like some old dogs like Spielberg.

That was the best monster movie I've ever seen. Quiet, poignant, subtle, free of melodrama, with HUMAN relationships at the center of it instead of treating actors as props for destruction porn. I sincerely thank you for recommending this. Why can't all movies be this good? Godzilla is in capable hands.

I'm still just having troubles getting on board with the "he's been around for 60 years but we just woke him up" thing. I'd much rather see it as he is a mutation from nuclear experiments plot.

That said, I will be seeing this opening night.

Well in one of the later remakes of Godzilla in japan he was found on an island during WW2, the one guy who owns a giant corporation in the movie was a soldier "saved" by him/it. So this storyline isn't too far out of line. I'd still prefer someone in a rubber suit though. That said this is already a big improvement over the 1998 movie.

Wasn't that the one where they established the existence of the godzillasaurus and that the big G was an enormous mutated version of it?

I think we see Rodan's chest in the scene where the soldiers on the rooftop fire the four flares. It looks (to me at least) we see Rodan's chest and curved top edge of his folded wings as he is coming out of the water.

If that's not just shout outs to all the Toho monsters then this could be an amped up version of Destroy all Monsters or even Final Wars, soooooo this could be epic or very, very stupid.

But I hope it's a better version of those two films...if it is that holy cow this could be the giant monster movie of all time!

Actually 'Final Wars" was a re-make of 'Destroy All Monsters' :)

BTW, who else is buying their tickets as soon as they're available? I know I am!!

I think we are seeing Rodan as well after watching the break down of the trailer, but it's definitely not confirmed.

Well with what the director said about that foreshadowing bit, I'd say yeah it does. With the 3 origami birds shown, there might be 3 Rodans? I know there was 2 Rodans to start with in his first movie appearance but one of them was killed.

Yep sure was,it was also in my opinion one of the worst of the new Gojira films, basically took us back to the 1970's Gojira and all that was bad about it *shudders*

After watching that piece it does look like right after the director is speaking about taylor and his hero part that the soldiers in daylight turn their guns up to the sky with something flying down towards. Does not look like a plane or jet it looks like a giant bird which is rodan, just what it looks like to me is all.

About the only thing I was hesitant about was the idea there was a new,American created, monster in the film but I could take it or leave it...as long as we don't get Gojira dancing about like in some of the films :wacko

However with Toho behind this is just doesn't make sense that they won't use something from their stock if they want other creatures roaming about, say Angerus or Rodan or maybe even Titanosarus.

Jigan,Gidohra or Mothra would be a little hard to try and fit in since trying to explain how they exist would need a huge dose of suspension of belief.

But if they go that way I hope somewhere down the line we get MechaGodzilla dammit! :darnkids

I'm guessing MUTOS creates something to combat G-Man and it backfires and G-Man saves those silly humans asses...Then He goes off to bed in his little crater we created...

They could totally do a Mecha G
