    Aug 17, 2012 - Galaxy Quest II - Who Wants One? #1

Just watched Galaxy Quest twice on SkiniMAX this past week and I have forgotten how GREAT that movie is....was....shall forever be!!!

I think a sequel is definitely necessary for this flick! It had all the charm in both reality of SCIFI geeks and SCIFI movies!!!

    Most favorite character? GUY!!!!!

I love it too, but would be afraid a sequel would kill the charm that made it special.

    Definitely agree abt this.

Brilliant movie still, just rewatched recently, and it holds up very well. But then again, I am of the generation and fan base that it pokes fun at.

They did a continuation of it in comic book format. Apparently, after the crash at the convention center towards the end of the film, the U.S. Government took the ship. The cast of the show celebrate the success of the rebooting of the series (which we see the opening credits for at the end of the film), but Jason Nesmith (the actor who played Cmdr. Peter Quincy Taggart) has been trying to find out what happened to the upper half of the ship. That's about as much of the comic I've read (which was one issue, so I don't know what happened after that).

I would be game, provided a decent script was involved. The first one was a surprise hit for me. Come to think of it, it ended perfectly. Maybe it's better to be left wanting after all, then have a complete pos made.

Agree with most here. Leave it as the great little flick it was.

Indeed. Great movie, but some stories just don't need a sequal/prequal/reboot/etc.

The film was great, but please do not do a sequel... I don't want to see this film botched by a horribly written sequel...

Yeah I too would rather see no sequel than a bad sequel. Besides, what more is there to say? GQ covered the territory pretty well I thought, and I still think it is one of the best Star Trek films in the entire franchise.

Anyhoo, the director of Galaxy Quest will be directing the new Bill & Ted sequel, so there's that.

Bill & Ted 3 gets the Galaxy Quest director!

I would rather see the original cut before it was toned down. They removed curse words, mild sexual references, and the engineer's pot habit.

Might or might not be better, but I'd still like to see it.

    What Apollo said.....
Great stand alone film, but a sequel would really frack it it up

Excellent premiss, perfect execution... Hollywood needs to leave it alone, forever.

If that rancid comic sequel was any indication, leave it be.
I still thinks something great could be done, in the right hands.

I'd love a sequel!! This was such an unexpected - awesome movie that it would be amazing to have a new film come from it.

I mean...It's not like Highlander 2, or the rest of the sequels ruined the original Highlander...or countless other 'less than great' sequels for other films damaged the original...so why not give this one a second go?
Loved their chemistry...and the tongue and cheek nature of the whole film.

I say do it...and would be there opening weekend.

well, I hate to burst your bubble, as much as I like to see GQ II, the actor Daryl Mitchell playing Tommy Webber aka Laredo has suffered a tragic accident which left him paraplegic - so the sequel point is moot. Except, if wanna cast another one as Laredo and I really don't know, if after 10 years, there's a slight chance to craft a script that can compare to GQ…

So tragic about Daryl Mitchell, I had not heard about that.

And yet he continues to perform! Kind of inspirational actually...

Instead of a "sequel", how about a Galaxy Quest movie, an in-universe story about the crew of the Protector?

what's interesting about that? I don't wanna step on your toes robn1 - but as a casual viewer, what would interest me to see about the crew of the Protector? That's the real question we should ask ourselves!

The first movie's premise was, actors becomes non-voluntary heroes, they cope with their inner and outer conflicts to rise above, to be more than they thought they would be, which was clever done. I can't image to set the main crew to new journey, where they, pardon the pun, boldly go where no actor has gone before…

Daryl Mitchell is still a damn fine actor. I don't see why he couldn't once again play Loredo. Just write his current condition into the story. And if they did make a sequel that was terrible, I don't see how that would take anything away from the first movie.

    I say make it.

I'd take a sequel, it'd be tough to do but if they pulled it off, if not well then v0v. I don't buy into the whole "ruins it". I think it's a bit late to do one but hey :P Not like it costs me anything ^^ I don't think it'd be viable for anyone though ><

Yeah! It would be yet another over-done Star Trek parody - Pike's Chair from the TOS episode!

I think a second Movie would be great! I love the idea of a in-universe script. There is so much potential, they have 3 years of "Galaxy Quest" footage that could be made and used. If done right, it would be awesome!

To me, "Galaxy Quest" ist still the best "Star Trek" movie ever made. Perhaps they could do another riff on Trek? Say "Galaxy Quest The Next Generation?"
