Frozen (Post-release)

Tangled was pretty good too. Horse was the best part.

What about Brave ?

I might be bias right enough, being Scottish lol

But I've also just seen "saving Mr Banks" which was very good .

Lumpy throat time though.

Emma Thomson played a blinder, even though I'm not a big fan

I didn't really like Brave all that much. They made it out to be this hugely awesome movie, and they were even adding to the Disney Princess pool!! But much like the Princess and the Frog, I was not that impressed.

okay...I just have to say that whomever is behind the cash cow of this movie is making sooo much money!! I just saw that it's STILL in the theaters and it's also available now on DVD/Blu-ray...wow....it's been in the theaters since November 27th 2013...

...I think that this must be a first for a movie to run so long that it meets up with it's disc release date and keeps going!!

I've seen this movie three times in the theater, and honestly the first time I saw this with my gf we were not impressed.
Here me out before you start hating.
Visually the movie is stunning! Effects animation is top marks here, and I've gotten to see and even work with some of the best in the animation world a long time ago and in a galaxy just around the corner.
Story. Hmmmmm... Nice idea but has holes, and character development IMO was weak. Elsa was really the only interesting and deep character but we never really get to involved with what's going on inside her head. This is after all a Disney movie and things have to stay light for the most part. The trolls seemed tossed in the last minuet just because they were trolls and this was somewhere near Norway. Olaf could have been a much stronger character, especially since he is the link between the girls and their childhood.

Then there is the music. It starts out like Lion King! I'm no expert on Norweigen music, but the instrumental/ chorus music that opens the film (not the ice song) sounds almost African!
Yes, "Let It Go" is by far the best song of the movie. It is a powerful song and the wickedly talented Adele Dazeem is an amazing singer! The rest of the music is just too predictable and not Disney's best IMO.

Outside of my favorites (Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty, and Lion) I still love Tangled and don't think it was given as much credit as it should have. It was Glen Keenes last film with Disney and a very well written story with great character development and emotion. I am not ashamed to admit that I still cry watching these movies ( I know many of you teared up when Mufasa was killed or when Beast dies) , but there was never a moment in Frozen that brought a tear to my eye because I never felt that connection with any of the characters.

Did I hate this movie, not at all. Is it the best Disney film of all time? Nope, not quite. Aside from Tangled, you need to journey back to 1989 to see some amazing examples of classic animation at its best.

I'm in total agreement with Agent Coulson. Both the first and second times I saw the movie I was not impressed - plot holes, un-engaging characters, vanilla musical visual displays, and just 1 good song to save all that. And then the box office figures started rolling in, and after the first month that's when I realized I'm completely out of touch with what today's kids and families enjoy. I still don't think this movie holds a candle to the Golden Age films, not even close.

Agreed.
It's good, but not the best.

It took me a loooong time to check this out, and when I did, I was shocked by how carelessly thrown together the story was. They must have been up a brutal production schedule to not go back and fix some glaring issues with character development.

THAT said, this is one of the most amazing LOOKING movies I've seen come out in CG animation. And I am not a CG fan... even though it pays the bills.

I do remember thinking Tangled was better... but I've only seen it the one time. I have it on my Boxee at home, so I should probably check it out again sometime.

I agree with what you've said. I too thought the film felt short (way too short) on character development and Tangled is better because it actually has good character development and a better story. The reason people currently call Frozen the best or whatever is because it certainly was better than the last Disney princess film which I believe was Brave. I think all this movie really has going for it is Let it Go and the beautiful animation.

Good. I don't want Frozen to be compared to this so-called golden age. It may not be the best Disney film ever made, but it's definitely one of the more important films they've produced in a very long time. How many Disney films do you know that deals with a relationship issue between two siblings in a non-rivalry way? Cripes, the film features a young Princess becoming a Queen. That never happens. And the female character's signature song doesn't involve wanting something. There is so much good that you can take away from Frozen that is rarely, if ever touched upon in the old age films.

I really liked Tangled (which was shockingly good) but I also thought Frozen was pretty good, and my granddaughter loves both........which is just fine by me. :)

I really liked this movie.. like a lot. One of my all time fav Disney movies. I love the music and the tone of it. I hate it when the hero's are in peril for too long and it takes up too much of the story. this was a great balance. My 6 year old loves it and I don't mind her watching it over and over.

I do not understand why this movie is getting as much praise as it is.

At face value it was an entertaining movie. I did enjoy watching it. However, hearing people say it is as good if not better than the Lion King gets on my nerves.

I had many issues with the story in Frozen. Mostly with the ending and how neatly everything is solved at the end. This is something that Elsa had been struggling with her entire life and has progressively been getting worse. Now suddenly at the end of the movie everything is awesome. The solution seemed far too simplistic.

I did not like Olaf at all. As far as I'm concerned he was the Jar Jar Binks of this movie. I cringed every time he was on screen. The same with the trolls. They were pointless and added nothing memorable to the movie. And can anyone explain to me what was the importance of having Kristoff be raised by the trolls? I thought he lived with the people who sold ice? That was a very confusing and unnecessary detail.

I thought there were too many musical numbers, especially near the beginning. They practically sang the entire first act of the movie. And don't even get me started on what I think of the "Let It Go" number. That song felt too over the top Broadway and felt out of place within the rest of the movie. Many of the songs could have been cut and the movie wouldn't have suffered any lack of plot points.

I did like how they set things up to seem like they were going down the road of Disney cliches, but then took them in a different direction that you didn't expect. I just wish that the characters could have been fleshed out more.

Reading the other comments in this thread helped put me at ease that I'm not the only one who sees the film's flaws.
