I love the movie so much that I got the Warren Peace jacket!
My wife and i LOVE this movie, and introduced it to our kids this past week. My six year old boy is gaining interest in superheroes, so he watched raptly. My three year old daughter made occasional comments on the costumes and "how badly the teenagers behaved" but she seemed to like it a lot too.
Thumbs up!!
Jet,
I've never posted about it, but I really like it too!
It's a great movie and I'm proud to belong on the same forum as the guy that wrote it.
As cool as the movie is. I'm more impressed that your father in law is Carroll Shelby. HAHAHA
Sorry for necro-posting, but I'm still interested in seeing any of the extra stuff you recorded Jet.
Just saw the movie again last night and thought of this thread.
My son and I are both huge Kurt Russell fans and my son being 9 is into all things 'Superhero' as well so needless to say we both enjoy 'Sky High' and he watches it on a regular basis.
I love hearing that kids like it. I remember when I was little the movie that made me want to get into the film business (Sorry, it wasn't Star Wars for me) was Pete's Dragon. It was the first time I realized that special effects were at work - knowing the dragon was a cartoon and was interacting with real people (the scene I remember the most was when they trapped him under the net), I was convinced Pasamaquadi was a real place - or it WAS at one time. I can remember wanting to visit there so bad - I had the same feeling toward some of the fictional lands on the Krofft Supershow . The coolest thing that happened to me after Sky High came out was these two boys asking me where Sky High was, as in the real school. They wanted to go there and watch the heroes train and make friends with all the teachers and stuff. There was no telling them it was just a set built on the Disney lot, and I wouldn't want to be the one that told them anyway.
I'll edit down some of the footage I took behind the scenes and post it as soon as I get a chance. I think enough time has gone by so I won't get in trouble.
were talking the footage of JB behind the glory hole wall right?
Disney threads always take a turn for the first... heh.
Jet, what was your involvement with this (apologies). I've been friends with Paul Hernandez for years. I remember hearing about this film in the early writing days, it was a little different then, but isn't every script? I was always excited for Paul and everyone involved with Sky High to see this come to light. Great work!
Ironically, I love Pete's Dragon...and was ecstatic to meet Mickey Rooney a couple of years ago. As a boy, I loved Pete, but the more I watch that film and the older I get, I love Jim Dale as Doc. Terminus. I'd love to find his costume from the "Passamaquoddy" song-scene.
Here's a funny story. When I was in grade school we did a stage production of Pete's Dragon....Patrick Kelley, the tallest kid in the class, was picked to play Elliott (Obvi). HOWEVER....they didn't test the green make up on him until opening night. He went on stage...and looked worse and worse until ultimately.....he threw up. The poor kid was allergic to the make up they used. Additionally, when we did Peter Pan....the wrapped the girl playing Tinkerbell in actual lights (again, never testing it until show time) and the poor girl was burned and taken to the hospital. It's amazing I remained an actor after some of those ordeals!
Great thread here! I really liked the movie too! Thanks for sharing.
Is it? I hope so, Paul's been hard to get a hold of these days. But he's actively working which is amazing. One of the best story tellers I know, both in his personal life and otherwise![]()
Interesting, I had no idea Jet Beetle was behind this movie. I really enjoyed it, despite being outside what I assume was the target age demographic. Great work, JB, because it's very easily one of my favorite "superhero for younger viewer" type of movies - and I've even dropped a "Ron Wilson - Bus Driver" reference on this board!
I'm pretty sure Jb is Paul. JB has mentioned how he is directing Instant Karma for Sony and Paul is listed as the director for it. Plus I swear I have seen people address him as Paul.
Jet Beetle and Paul Hernandez, the same person you say? I guess it takes more than just a cheap pair of glasses to fool people nowadays. Actually I always thought everyone knew it was me. I'm glad so many of you enjoyed the movie-- it's not exactly what I'd hoped, but so many little kids love it that really all that matters. Thank you all for the kind words.
And Kurt - I'll give you a ringy-dingy when I get back to LA - I need your artistic talents.
