Fantastic Four

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

Along with getting Thing right, I think they will have to create a really menacing Dr Doom for the movie to work. Both points were a let down in the previous movies.
I wouldn't put Doom in the first movie - maybe some Doom overtones or hints, but not as the main villian.

Give us the Moleman - and maybe throw in some Inhumans... set Dr. Doom up to be the big villian he deserves to be in FF2 and maybe even 3.

Come to think of it, Nathan Fillion is probably just the right age and just about the right look to play Reed Richards now (well, with a bit of hair color along the temples).

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

I didn't think the Thing was too bad in the films and he did great with the voice so if they did CG maybe they could at least get him back for that. It also helps he grew up with the comics, that's always a plus.

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

I was thinking Micheal Rooker - Mr Svenning from Mallrats. I guess he's in some show about zombies, too.

:confused

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and though there could be a better FF movie made, the ones that were made were actually really good. To call them crappy is a bit extreme. I agree that the Avengers is probably in my opinion one of, if not the Best Marvel comics made movie. Though this hardly makes the fantastic 4 movies horrible. the first Hulk movie was pretty good for its time, but had plenty of room for improvement, and led the way to more and more. If it wasn't for those earlier movies, we likely wouldn't be getting the amazing big budget movies now. Before those movies, The Hulk,Spiderman trilogy, Daredevil and Electra comics were not taken seriously as a big screen potential
But they opened the eyes of the people with the money and as much as you may hate Hollywood execs, if it wasn't for them there wouldn't be any Big budget high quality movies made. In case you have forgot the money it takes to make a really GREAT film. Its not cheap! I would like to see a new Fantastic 4 movie, and a new xmen movie. Though they were good movies, they did stray from the stories and characters i know. But then again, so do the comics themselves....they constantly change and update with the times.

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

This needs a reboot like nobody's business. The first one was so mis-handled I didn't know what to do with myself. Wrong director, wrong cast (well, to be fair Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis were well cast), wrong story. Seriously, folding Doom's origin in with the FF's is the worst kind of stock, wrong-minded Hollywood thinking that has no interest in or respect for fans and inciting material. They should have called that movie The Fantastic Five...

I don't know either the director or the writer named, but I'm glad the writer cares about the characters and the story. Outside of X-Men: Origins I don't think Fox has done anything good with Marvel properties...

But maybe they will take a page from the success Marvel Studios has had and skew closer to the source.

I don't even think that movie was that good. I don't like Fox having the rights to these Marvel characters. They have not produced one good comic book movie. Marvel studios needs to find a way to get these rights back and do these characters justice.

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

With Doom being my favorite villain, I definitely didn't like the way they handled his origin in that film. They need Joss Whedan do redo this movie. :lol

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

if they dont at least mention the avengers, im gonna be pissed. lets just hope they have some issues with production, stop making it and the rights reverse to marvel

hey, it happened to daredevil :D

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

FF movies were awful. Especially #2.

I hope they actually make a reboot that isn't cheesey as heck and follows at least SOME of the comic besides just naming everyone after the characters and that be almost the only connection.

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

Olivia Wilde would be SO much better than Jessica Alba.......

Re: Fantastic Four Reboot

I think this Matthew Vaughn news is good for this movie. I like the tone of most of the films he's been involved with, producing and directing. I thought he got it right in X-Men First Class.

I keep hearing the right things about this project. Of course we've all heard "the right things" about a project only to be disappointed in the end, but it sure beats hearing early reports that are flat out going down the wrong path.

I remain optimistic for this.

Sadly that won't happen. Everything has to be hip and trendy these days so backstory that is faithful to the source material is totally ignored either by the writers or the directors. Edit: I'd personally like to see it set in the past like X-men:First class but i doubt it would do well.
