What are your thoughts on Falling Skies (i.e plot, aliens, etc.)?
Just finished up the season premiere. Like last season it's good enough to watch, but doesn't blow me away.
I do have to laugh how the producers said that this season they did away with 'magic bullets' that pierce Mech armor. Bullets made of the same metal as the armor, thus having the same hardness, piercing the armor makes a lot of sense. But they producers think that the bullets were 'magic' and eliminated their ability to make it.
So this season they use a sheet of R6 insulation strapped to part of the hood of their vehicles to suddenly make them invisible to the alien thermal targeting system.
So instead of a reasonable application of alien tech against alien tech, they have magic fiberglass.
I wondered what happened to those bullets. I find the show everything the V remake series should have been, frankly.
For me, it has more good than bad going for it. I don't care for the mech designs or the constant CGI, but I'm a sucker for end of the world/alien invasion stories.
I watched it when the first season premiered, couldn't last 2 episodes, then watched the first season acouple weeks ago, loved it, loved the season 2 premier, it's not incredible, but highly entertaining, cant wait to see what this season has in store!
I was wondering about the Mech ammo. There are ways to keep the but still moderate it's use. Just having a "magic" bullet doesn't end the war. Hell it doesn't even ensure victory. But without it it can doom the resistance. Killing skidders is not enough.
From everything we've seen, too, it's 100ish people of the 2nd mass vs the entire alien army. You'd think they'd just toss a couple bombs out there and be done with it.
I know there's no guarante it's just them left, however, the inference we were given is that he made it all the way from Michigan back to Massachusetts without seeing anyone other than that teen, her dead mom and they guy who tried to steal her food..
I did like the quote about 'you'd think such an advanced civilization wouldn't just kill 6 billion people'...
I want to know that little metal fly was they took out of Noah Wylie eye and did exactly metamorphasize into a flying creature. Clearly why he wasn't killed when they kicked him off the ship. But now we have the whole he's going to always be mistrusted by some because of it.
Also, the skitter at the end seemed to be the same skitter from the ship. It had one black and one red eye.
I enjoyed the first season quite a bit, and haven't had a chance to watch the premiere of the new season yet. Looking forward to it, the consensus seems to be that it was good.
I don't think it's a horrible series... it's not crazy awesome but for being on TNT it's not all that bad... It keeps my attention for the most part. I'm curious to see where the survivors end up and if there are more out there. It was pretty messed up how the aliens killed all of their POWs except for Tom. I was like Damn.... that's some Nazi crap there. The alien did say that they got a lot of their tactics from human history...
I'd comment but my !@*&%&$ DVR decided to not record it. So I have to wait and record it Sun. morning...
I thought that the season 2 premiere was good . I thought the season one was pretty good also.
The tuning adapter I have to use with my Tivo for some HD channels has been getting flakier every day. Last night I thought, "Hmm, I'd better record it at SD too just in case." Sure enough, that is all that recorded. I need to get Brighthouse to replace it or something. I really do not want to have to use their DVR.
I liked it last season and so far this season. I have high hopes for the show... Especially since there is no other good scifi shows on anymore.
D
Season 1 was filmed in Oshawa, Hamilton, and Toronto. Season 2 was filmed in Vancouver and Coquitlam.
Yeah go season 1! (I'm originally from Oshawa) I'm liking the new season so far, I find it strange that they got rid of the "magic bullets" yet showed them talking about it in the recap.
I'm interested in seeing how much more Ben changes and when they will all realize that the Skitters are humans.
I don't think the Skitters are necessarily humans, but they're obviously slaves of the Fish Heads. They may be slaves of another race that was similarly harnessed.
Well yeah some of them could be other races but as they said the harness is a process and i think the end result is a Skitter, that's just my theory.
They'd have to have been harnessing people for quite a while longer to have them be turned fully into Skitters at this point. Maybe alien abductions? I don't buy they're humans though.
there was that dissection scene where they found the harness under the Skitters exoskeleton, add rick's ability to stick to walls like them, and Ben's growing strength/stamina as well as his scales spreading, I think it's pretty possible but It's also just as likely that most of them would be a different species that were harnessed.
I have to agree with you...Sorta.. the only reason Ben isn't growing crusty green crap around his spikes as bad is because they detached the harness so it's not directly connecting him anymore, plus he's fighting it. If you look at some of the kids with the harness attached they have the green stuff on their faces now... they all have super human strength... they might not be sprouted more legs anytime soon but I think it might be something similar to what the skitters are but that's just my opinion![]()
Never seen season one TV is so terrible I gave it a look on Hulu second episode season 2.
ehh so so . The actors less maybe 2 or 3 are horrible . They cast this show with out one real Hero buff dude who looks like he has a shot at saving the world .
Most are teens and over the hill middle aged guys way out of shapeThe guy from ER is giving it his best shot but
your asking a wimp to play the part of a Hero . Thats what watchers never buy into in the end. Horribly Cast and way to low of a budget to make it a real contender .
