CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

Sweet baby *****...this has REALLY washed the taste of that droid story arc out of my mouth.

:lol ya, that was star wars the clone wars in true style. really enjoyed that and there were a couple of nice surprise reveals there too... I just loved the last 10 minutes... that was just Sith-Gasm x 1000!!!! :love

I just had a geekgasm. For three years they've given us a long string of iffy crap each season, almost lost my interest entirely, and then totally blown my damn mind. But this was one of the best episodes ever. Kudos CW. I'm geeking out hardcore, and Star Wars doesn't do that to me much anymore!

soooo, anyone else think its an easter egg that obi wans love interest is named satine, and dies tragically? :)

I have to concede... who is satine and how does dying tragically relate? I tried to google it to see if it was EU or other but I'll need an explanation on this one.

I got a question... why didn't the Emperor sense when Maul was still alive before taking Anakin as his apprentice? When Anakin fell after the battle with Obiwan, he was able to find him no problem and was there in a matter of minutes... you'd think if Maul was alive when he was cut down, the Emperor would have come running as well, but no. I understand the popularity of Maul as the bad guy, but when Obiwan cut him in half, the chances that he actually survived are pretty damn slim to none. When they brought him back in the series I was like "Seriously?? You gotta be kidding me!" I think the storyline would have been much more successful if Savage went hunting for Obiwan to avenge his brothers death, only to be cut down himself. I dunno... I like the series, just some of the storylines leave alot to be desired in the believability factor.

because its a fun cartoon. :lol And Everyone loves some more Darth Maul action! Remember, the films were written and filmed long before Lucas even considered continuing the stories between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith as a weekly cartoon so he couldn't have foreseen that he would need to worry about that kind of plot hole created by a "further adventures" program.

I think EoS is referring to Fantine of Les Miserables...

And I agree with the lot of you, bloody fantastic episode

Re-watched episode 13, and saw episodes 14, and 15 today. They had a good storyline, shocking plot twists. I kind of wish Pre Vizsla wasn't killed. The Mandalorians were pretty cool and Vizla made a great villain.

I hate to admit this, but I am pretty sure it is a reference to the movie "Moulin Rouge". Ewan's love interest in the film is Satine, she dies tragically as we'll.

Loved the episode!!!

Yup, Nicole Kidman played Satine. Totally an Easter Egg imo. I did hate how OB used his so sorry line from ROTS. Kinda minimizes one of the most powerful PT moments. My only tiny quibble. Totally negated by Maul with a black lightsaber. Also, that DW member with the horns on his helmet. Kick ass.

Wait, Star Wars has plot holes?! I'm shocked!

ah... never saw that one either... no wonder it went over my head :lol but seems to me that is indeed the actual easter egg and not Fantine of Les Miserables being the character in Moulin Rouge is actually named Satine and Ewan McGregor played the love interest in it. Still no desire to see either one though. :lol

This episode was the best STAR WARS I have seen since 1983. I can't say enough about how much fun I think the CLONE WARS series has been.

agreed. I just watched it again and I think the fight between Palpy and Maul & Savage Opress was better than that of Yoda and Palpy in ROTS!

Come to think of it, isn't this the first time we've actually seen Sith fight Sith? An actual Rule of 2 power fight to the death between Sith?

I don't count Vader turning on the emperor in RotJ since Vader "Turned back" and became Anakin again but I think this is the first Sith fight if I recall correctly.

Watch the featurette by Dave Filoni and Sam Witwer discussing Darth Maul's cunning power schemes and the epic final battle between the Sith Lord and Pre Vizsla in the last episode... there is some great stuff Filoni says... especially at the very end!!! :D Watch "Lies, Deceit, and Mistrust: The Ways of Maul" - The Clone Wars Episode Featurette #5.15 | StarWars.com

in fact for those only gleening the surface of the Clone Wars cartoon and questioning its relevance within the frame work of the established films I recommend all the behind the scenes featurettes with Filoni because he explains quite a bit in the motivations behind the plot lines they are creating... really great insights. This one is good too: http://starwars.com/watch/eminence-featurette.html
