I knew they dubbed a lot of the early stuff, but I didn't know that Carole Bouquet's voice was dubbed. That surprised me.

    Nikki van der Zyl

Nikki van der Zyl might not be a name you recognise, nor even one appearing in the credits of the films, but nevertheless she played a very important part!

From the very first Bond film, Dr No, Nikki was engaged to dub some of the Bond girls ... Ursula Andress (also dubbed in Casino Royale), Eunice Gayson, Shirley Eaton, Claudine Auger, Kissy Suzuki, Jane Seymour, Caroline Munro as well as many supporting actresses in the films.

Nikki worked on scores of other films too including Battle of Britain, The Ipcress File, A Tale of Two Cities, One Million Years BC, Prudence and the Pill, The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes, Frankenstein Created Woman, Call Me Bwana.... and she also performed some stunt work in Carry On Cleo and Carry On Don't Lose Your Head!!

Her TV includes shows UFO, The Saint, The Persuaders and Interpol Calling.

During the production of Goldfinger, Nikki was voice coach to Gert Frobe and spent many hours on the set with him - and fortunately caught much of that time on her little stills camera.
Why were they dubbed? - CBn Forums

Carole BOUQUET was dubbed in the english version of FYEO.
    And I don't understand why, because :
1°)she'a a great actress (I'm french, and Carole BOUQUET succeeds very well in cinema in France)
2°)she speaks english fluently (with an accent, of course, but in the film, she was greek, so it'd not have been strange to hear her real voice with an accent!)
You can hear the real voice of CArole BOUQUET in the french version of FYEO, on the DVD of the film.
She dubbed herself... quite well, actually.

Wait a second. ADR work is different (in my mind) from being "dubbed." When someone's voice is "dubbed", to me, that's like the Nikki van der Zyl bit -- it was someone else's voice in the actor's or actress' mouth. Re-recording your own dialogue because you weren't loud enough, because your accent was particularly strong that day, because the cat ate the original audio tracks or whatever isn't quite the same thing.

Also, I don't think Dr. Jane Medicine Quinn's voice was dubbed. I find that VERY hard to believe. And I always thought that Eunice Gayson was the one who actually dubbed Ursula Andress.

Her voice was in other peoples mouths. Call it what you will.

I find it funny Bouquet was dubbed, then dubbed herself for the french version. At least she could sound like herself.

Ah, ok, I misunderstood the bit about Bouquet. To hear her in english-language interviews, the only thing I can think of is that her accent was a bit too thick in the early 80s (I saw a late-80s interview and she speaks perfectly, just accented somewhat, so I guess it improved), or the boom mic just wasn't picking her up effectively or whatever. Who knows.

    Anyway, she's STILL absolutely stunning.

I just hope when they finally decide to reintroduce Q in the Bond movies, they dispense with John Cleese and go with this guy instead:

I can just imagine him telling Bond "I never joke about my work, 007!"

That's James "Captain Slow" May...and if campy Bond movies ever return (Which they shouldn't) I couldn't think of a better Q, myself.

    Great choice, Kalkamel.

I read Javier Bardem (Chigurh in No Country For Old Men) has also been offered the role of a different villain.

Either seems a bit too obvious a choice.

    "Obvious?"

Since when have Bond films cast their villains against type?

Hey, this is the RPF; where members think they know better than all the casting directors and filmmakers in Hollywood.

Benicio del Toro already did the henchman thing in a Bond film... Why not the main villain?
