Take everything you currently hear with a grain of salt.

The first Batman movie (after '66) had been planned for since the Superman 1978 movie and went through many changes. It wasn't released until 1989.

Other Superman ideas had been kicked around since the early '90s. After a lot of changes to the various scripts, it was announced that Superman Lives would be directed by Tim Burton and star Nicholas Cage as Superman. Those things never came to pass (although they did get paid for doing almost no work).

The buzz about a Batman: Year One was all over the place... then dissapeared.

A release date was set for summer of 2004 for Batman vs. Superman by WB... but never went anywhere. Instead it became Batman Begins and Superman Returns.

A few years ago, Sony said that everyone would be returning for Spiderman 4... then it was rebooted with a new cast and crew.

The next X-Men movie that was supposed X-Men: Origins: Magneto. That was scrapped for "First Class."

Ghostbusters 3 has been talked about for decades and gone nowhere.

Abrams said Star Trek canon would be preserved

Basically, unless filming is more than a few days, any movie idea is just that- an idea. A blurb from one or two people means nothing... a lot of times, it doesn't mean anything coming from the studio.

Just what I hoped would happen since these new Batman movies aren't about Batman but just some guy with a soar throat and a big weird vehicle...

Not seeing that myself at all.

Read Batman comics for ages, since the early eighties. Was very happy with BB and TDK as were all my equally well read bat-friends. Only Mask of the Phantasm before was a real bat flick. The rest were garbage in my view. Batman in Name Only.

The Nolan films incorporated much from the comics, much of the film was making me recall many pure comic moments I'd read years before.
Psychologically it was right there for me.

Perfect? No. But more then I thought Hollywood ever capable of.

I'm not really an expert on Batman, but I'd sure like to see a Batmobile instead of a big black blob, and I'd like to see the bat cave as an actual cave with bats instead of an underground white box, and I'd like to see the Joker with a damaged face that smiles like I think it was intended instead of a crazy person with halloween makeup and lumpy cheeks.

And I'd sure love some actual movie music in a new Batman film over the latest theme that consists of four notes going back and forth... dada dada dada dada dada dada bwaaaah bwaaaaaaaaaaah......

Well again I'm not an expert, but the 80's movies gave me a more awesome "This is Batman" feeling. The new movies sort of lost the comicbook-world awesomeness by trying to be as real-world realistic as possible.

I'm there as long as Marvin, Wendy and Wonderdog are in the film. And what's with calling it "Justice League" - ?? I want SUPER FRIENDS vs THE LEGION OF DOOM. I want that Darth Vader head base rising out of the swamp! I want Solomon Grundy and Apache Chief! I want Ted Knight's voice. I want Aquaman riding a sea horse, Wonder Woman in her jet Superman busting comets with his bare hands and um.... Batman and Robin sliding down a pole?? Seriously? Batman and Robin have no business even being in a Justice League movie.

Check out the intros - pay attention to what the other heroes are doing then check out Batman and Robin. Even the 2nd ringers have more potential.

I site my "too many characters" rule to the group movies.

    Doomed to failure.

So you might as well do Superfriends.

I'm not a huge Batfan either, but my friends who are die-hard fans of the Bat have said that it's the most accurate representation of Batman they've ever seen. I know I enjoyed them way more than any other Batman film. The Burton films weren't bad, but they are great in their own way, as are the Nolan films.

Batman Begins is awesome, The Dark Knight is awesome, and this final Nolan movie will kick *****. I have faith in Nolan. Was Inception a huge masterpiece? No, but we're not talking about Inception, we're talking about Batman.

I'm sooooo tired of these unambitious reboot plans. "Let's start planning for a reboot of the series we currently have in production" - no, you pedestrian idiots! That was so 2000's.

Instead - plan for that reboot, and the reboot to follow that, and the reboot to follow *that*!

Get a dedicated Harry Potter style pipeline in place with a permanent core crew and treat these properties the way the big comic publishers do, dammit!

Anything has to be better than these Nolan films.

Truthfully I would rather sit and watch Batman and Robin for an entire
day before I sit through begins or Dark Knight again.

To be, Burton did it right. Gotham was cool looking, There was a CAVE,
(not a basement) and there was a bat MOBILE! Not a glorified skateboard.

I hope the reboot, if there is one, goes back to the look Burton gave us.

The studio seems focused on younger/cheaper actors so Batman and everyone else can have a lot of screentime. However, that Liberty and Justice treasury comic from a while back proved that you can make a serious comic without following Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman throughout the story. Bale is strong as Batman. The next film will probably be the best in the series. Why take the risk of getting the wrong actor for Batman again (Batman Forever, Batman & Robin) and retelling an origin story. Whatever the case, I have a feeling The Avengers will be the test for the big superhero team movie.

I dunno....i feel like they've done it all with Batman. We've had the '66 west Ward camporama, the 89 dark gothic romance, the Schumacher comedy-nightmares, recently the growly depressing ones....There's nowhere left to go with this franchise and the character is rapidly becoming boring.

Batman has sort of become The Punisher with no balls......

Leave it 5-10 years then see if it's exciting again.

I'd love to see batman get maimed by Bane. It wouldn't be hard for the Nolan universe, as much as i dislike everything but the suit and batmobile, into the DC Universe as you never see the rest of it.

BB and TDK are still extremely early tales in the life of The Batman.

He still isn't where he is in the comics as full blown Bats.

He is still working things out in his head about what it is he is supposed to be.

He still doesn't have the environs around him that the fully developed character has.

His batcave with trophys, his more traditional batmobile, Gotham acceptive of his presence and the return of the batsignal, the emergence of the great detective that is The Batman.

Really both films have been prequals nearly.

He is no where near even where the character is in the animated series for instance... established and permanance in Gotham.

There is a lot remaining to tell and it could go on for film after film. The animated series ran for years afterall for a reason, with some very high quality stories.

The comics are rich in good content, they have scratched the surface so far.

I hope he grows to his full-on potential in the final film, he wanted to quit being Batman for Rachael but she chose Dent instead then they both end up dying anyway. So Bruce has nothing but the suit and Gotham to live for, and Gotham will need Batman sooner or later. So now since he only lives for Gotham, he should become the total B.A. Batman we all know.

Why not have a more kid friendly Batman? Just because it could be more kid-friendly DOESNT mean it has to be like Shumachers films. They would make it fun. Like the Donner Superman movies. Fun for the whole family.

They USED to make movies like that. I kinda wish Disney would buy DC comics now, so Pixar could make some AWESOME DC character movies.....

I thought I was the only one who got this point. One of the best scenes in The Dark Knight is when the Joker gives Batman the choice of Dent or Rachel knowing that Batman will choose Rachel. So he switches their locations. Batman just wasn't ready. He even considers not being Batman one day. This is probably why I still prefer Burton's first Batman even though it's kind of strange in that the movie doesn't really have an origin story. But Batman is ready in that movie and wouldn't even consider not being Batman. The best line in that film is when he tells Vicki Vale "this is how it is." I have a feeling that Nolan's third will still be in the more realistic feel but I hope by the end there is an establishment of the Batman mythology.

I would love to see a reboot of all the DC characters so far (including GL) and take a more Marvelesque approach. Those movies just seem so much more like comic book stories to me than the DC movies. I am a fan of BB and loved TDK, but I would still prefer a gray/blue batman suit and some almost unbelievable villains/schemes. Regarding super man I would enjoy seeing something cool like a giant metallo or darkseid, something besides someone impersonating gene hackman.

My fanboy wetdream is that we see Batman in that comic cloth costume at some point.

He has evolved and risen to such a level where he doesn't need the armour anymore.

Or at least for certain missions, he chooses that kind of costume. Perhaps when he needs to go into Batmode swiftly, he has it underneath.

I think Nolan is headed these directions.

The updated costume in TDK, more movement, less protection. Well whats the next step?

Also the Tumbler is now destroyed, well... nobody EVER called it the Batmobile in those films. And Wayne is out tooling around in a high perfromance sports car to accomplish a certain mission. hmmmm that all points to the next step.

Obviously the new Batcave is something we all expect to see.

The Dark Knight Rises? How the hell could you have a title like that without the batsignal restored and Bats now the bad ass established protector of Gotham?

And dare I even dream that this symbol appears.........

That symbol seems old fashioned to me. They've retconned it to say he uses the bright symbol to attract gunfire to the armored plate underneath.

Superman has his 'S' but he's trying to stand out.
