it's a shame they did not explane why thor's hammer got another handle. the part that the hulk changes in the city and punches that thing in to the ground was great!

the movie wins. seen last night.
hulk is soooooooo epic...makes you do a ton of laughs...the scene with loki is one of the best ever![]()
serious spoilers.... DON'T READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE. this movie is not worth wasting on spoilers. you have to see it with fresh eyes.
ok. what got me was: why did bruce pick up the spear?.... maybe a cut part of the movie, it kinda happened and then bam hulk is getting seven shades of s*** beaten out of him by thor and you never hear anything about it again.... my boss was saying maybe it was the hulk reacting, wanting to use it or smash it, I dunno.
god I can NOT wait till this is available.
I didn't quite fully understand that part at first either but it was supposed to show that Banner was getting angry and starting to lose control of himself, so he subconsciously picked up the spear. I initially thought that maybe Loki planted something in the spear to help make Bruce go Hulk but Loki's plan was simply to get caught and keep SHIELD busy while Hawkeye went to steal the iridium. I don't think there was anything fishy going on with his spear, they threw that in there to simply show Banner was getting more and more upset and to add to the tension between amongst the Avengers.
Or maybe Loki wanted Banner to go Hulk and so there was something in the spear as BW was able to get Loki to admit that Hulk was part of his plans. I'll keep an eye out when I see it again tonight.

Without doubt the best movie I have seen as far as I remember, I couldnt fault a single thing. Loved Hulk and Thor!
To be honest, I think the spear had some sort of influence over them all. Like it was making them all short tempered and making them argue with each other. If this was the case, then it explains why Loki intentially got captured, as he probably knew Banner would be in close proximity to it, increasing the chance of him Hulking out.
Therefore, he unconsciously picked it up because it wanted him to...
Thats my theory anyway
Loved it!!!! Loved every bit....will go see it again
Argh! You guys are killing me! I still have to wait a whole week before I can see it!
You guys are really getting my hopes up!
So Joss Whedon knocked it out of the park?
I thought during the scene with the spear Loki seemed to be listening to what was being said and possibly had some form of influence over Banner similar to in the extra scene at the end of Thor where he seems to be controlling Selvig.
also the bracelets Stark put on, i think, are leading into them using the Extremis storyline in IM3.
but other than that IT'S FREAKING EPIC with a capital OMG!
can't wait till Sunday so I can go see it again!
The movie had an overwhelming amount of action put into it. By far the most intense action movie made to date. Many funny quotes through the movie, and Hulk was smashin'.
this is the best movie I've ever seen and lots of props now i want!!
Ironman:
RDJ plays his usual role of the "billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" but you see an new side of selflessness
Captain America:
Brilliantly played by Evans! I love how they have kept the 40's look on him in the modern world!
Thor:
Not as much screen time as I thought he'd have but a brilliant on screen relationship with the Hulk
Hulk:
All I can say is I wish Mark Ruffalo played the Hulk in the first two movies as he plays Banner superbly!!
Just saw it in IMAX 3D, and I LOVED IT!
I will definetly be going to see it again, but in 2D, primarily because of cost, not as a reflection of the quality of the 3D.
To the rest of the world who have yet to see, this I think, or should I say hope you love it, because Marvel are really firing on all cylinders now, and I pray for more output from them in the coming years.
Suit up!
This is sounding like a shoe in for action flick of the year...
Have to agree with the above, IMAX 3D was awesome. Full cinema, lots of laughs, tons of action. One bit early on with Banner that scared the bejesus out of me.
It's a home run, don't worry about it letting you down or overhype, just go there and enjoy it, you will!
The second half of The Avengers is filled with such fantastic action, it indeed has more action than all Marvel movies combined. Joss Whedon crafted the team conflict so well and balanced it out with such brilliant humour.
And though some characters managed to steal the show, Whedon showed the importance of every character and gave them their moment to shine on multiple occasions. As a comic fan there were times while watching Avengers I couldn't believe I am getting to see these comic characters come to life all together like that.
And one of the best things about opening day is the enthusiastic crowd, who cheered right from the title sequence and during every character's intro scene.
There is a moment in the film where Alan Silvestri's awesome main Assemble theme music kicks in during that surround shot of the Avengers, I had almost tears of joy during that brief moment. Also the audience really cheered at that scene (among many others).
And the 3D for The Avengers was really impressive, also maybe it was cause of the proper bright light conditions. It is one of the best live action 3D experience I had.

Ok guys I watched it again last night and here's my take on the Banner grabbing Loki's 'boomstick of destiny' deal.
When Loki is captured and escorted by SHIELD soldiers in the Helicarrier, there's that slo-mo scene where he stares at Banner and he smiles at him. Banner is staring back and at the end of the scene, he takes off his glasses and has to rub the bridge of his nose, showing that Loki puts a spell on him at that point and it slowly starts to make him lose until he goes Hulk on the Helicarrier. Him grabbing the spear during the argument helps to show that he's losing control in an uncanny manner.
It's not entirely clear if the spear plays a role in all this. When the spear was glowing while everyone was arguing in the room, it was to signal to Hawkeye the Helicarrier's location. Now maybe the spear and Loki's spell go hand-in-hand to influence Banner into losing control, but if so I believe its effects are only on Banner and not the rest of the team. It would downplay the tensions among the individual Avengers if they were all cast in some spell by the spear to cause the infighting, and I'm sure Whedon wants to show that these guys all don't get along even without some mystery magic cast on them.
One part that threw me off a bit during the infighting scene was when Cap and Stark were still going at it, and Stark shakes his head inexplicably in the middle of the argument. It almost seems like he also felt the effects of Loki's spell but he may also just have been shaking his head at something that Cap or someone else said. I'm watching the movie again next Thursday, I guess I'll have to give this another look![]()
I saw it 3 times yesterday. Can't get over how much I loved it. Widows 'hair-butt' makes me laugh each time. I must concentrate on her breasts next time.
The only issue I had was Loki calling Widow a 'mewling quim'. At first I thought I'd mis-heard, but I hadn't. I thought it was an odd decision to have that level of vulgarism in this type of movie...unless it was trying to highlight just how deranged Loki had become...
Is Thor's full sleeved outfit the same as his original movie suit? Also, not really a spoiler, but does he ever wear his Helmet in the flick?
Same here brah!!
First time I honestly think Bruce Banner and Hulk had some screen presence!!! Ruffalo has made the character his !!! And he didn't make me want to gouge both my eyes out with stanley blades made from pepakura!!!
And thank F**K Stark has gone back to the circular arc reactor !! Something about that triangle reactor that made me think of carney folk....
What did everyone think of the "usual after the credits" peek?
