Avengers Movie SPOILER Thread

I really enjoyed it. It's about time too, there hasn't been a really good comic book movie since Ironman.

I think we give all the credit to Joss Whedon. He's fingerprints were all over this film.

Looking forward to seeing it again!

I had to look up what Shawarma was.

I don't/didn't know what Shawarma was, but when IM made that comment about the Shawarma shop I immediately thought 'that's the final scene, everyone at that place'.

That Hulk was the best done Hulk since the TV show. Maybe even better than that. As noted above - i still get the chuckles when I think of him slapping Loki around and punching Thor.

I don't know that anyone has even been cast better than RDJ as Stark. Watching him in that role - it's like he's on another plane.

Someone deserves a screenwriting award for that IMO. Weaving together a story with IM, Thor, CA, Hulk, Black Widow Hawkeye, Fury, etc and giving them all worthwhile story lines and keeping it balanced is just an amazing accomplishment in my book. Plus, the story was great as well.

This was definitely hit WAAY out of the ballpark. This ball might land around Asgard somewhere.

Can't wait for the next Marvel flick next summer. They're batting 1000!

Saw a matinee at the Imax yesterday! WOW! Took my 5 year old son..first NON animated movie we have ever gone too. It was GREAT!! My son...who can't always keep quiet or sit still was SILENT for 2.5 hours!!! The only time he spoke was when we spotted Stan Lee (who we met last weekend). Oh STan Lee's comment..was that a crack about Spidey?!

As for a comment about the Avengers arguing seeming forced..it WAS forced. Loki was influencing them so the Hulk would snap and cause the chaos. Funny Loki wasn't even in the cell at all...one of his doubles was.

There was soooo much to see..it will need MANY repeat viewings!!

Question..when the hulk FIRST was turnign into the Hulk..was that a quick shot of Ferrigno?!

The scene where Hulk grabs Loki and slams him around..pure awesome! I actually giggled out of pure childish excitement several time when cool things happened! Its been a long time since I felt that way in a theater!

At one point a guy a few rows up stood up and YELLED at the guy behind him. "IF YOU DON'T STOP KICKING MY SEAT I'LL COME BACK THERE AND KICK YOUR A$$!!" The guy replied something and this guy yelled, "CAUSE THIS IS MY SPACE DUMBA$$!!!" While I agree completely about kickers (in fact the guy behind me had his legs on my seat and since they recline soo easily my seat literally jiggled every time the guy behind me laughed. A mild distraction but not worthy of a freak out like that other guy had!!).

Saw it last night with my hubby and it was awesome!

I liked that it wasn't all serious and really liked that there was quite a bit of comedy in it,it was a great movie that we both enjoyed very much :)

Ironman/Tony Stark... he's such a great character and Robert portrays him really well.

"His first name is agent."

I'm pretty sure that Loki was in the cell originally. When Thor saw the Loki standing in the doorway of the cell and jumped at him, that was an illusion to trap Thor in the cage.

Just a thought, and I've really got no evidence to back it up, but it was just a bit of a feeling. Did Loki never intend for the invasion to succeed? Did he find himself in over his head with this alien race and used them to invade Earth because he knew that Thor and his friends would stop the invasion, 'saving' Loki from the trouble he got himself into?

Now that is deep my friend lol

dark knight = ant, The Avengers = boot

I still want to see The Dark Knight Rises, and I plan on enjoying it and purchasing it on blu-ray upon release, but The Avengers has set the bar so high for movies this summer and all superhero movies to come.

It has been a long time since I have added a new movie to my list of all-time favorites. Most often I have to watch a movie over and over again, and still enjoy it. Then it begins to grow on me, and I begin to see new things, and then it becomes a favorite.

I've only seen The Avengers twice, and I am immediately ready to welcome it into my top all time favorites with the likes of Blade Runner, The Big Lebowski, Ghostbusters, Casablanca, and Pulp Fiction.

I think The Avengers has added to my enjoyment of the individual movies leading up to it. I watched Thor again and enjoyed it so much more than I did before.

I'm still really bummed about Coulson. They kind of played it out weird, so I'm with the people who hope he isn't really dead.

That said, I thought the movie was fantastic!!! I saw it in 3D Thursday at midnight after a Marvel marathon. I saw it again last night at a local drive-in theater. I'm already thinking of when I can go see it again.:lol

This maybe an odd question but what type of 3D glasses did everyone get ? In selected theaters they had avenger themed glasses and they looked kinda cool and nice souvenir.I was looking foreword to getting a pair but the move theater i went had the normal black ones.

I really wanted those glasses...and sent Facebook messages twice to our Canadian theater chain but they didnt answer me about those glasses. Ah well..I got the collector cups with the figurines on top.

Our glasses were generic and black.

I'm also not 100% that coulson's dead. Fury checked his pulse (which when you check for 2 seconds like that is far from conclusive) and told the radio the med tech's called it. We didn't see the med tech call it. Little hints were there all over that it wasn't a done deal.

Quite honestly - i think they probably don't know at this point. They have the flexibility to go either way. To borrow a bit from the Big Bang Theory - he's Schroedinger's cat. He can be thought of both alive and dead at the moment. That is, until they make it official one way or another. I think there's a chance that the bonus scene at the end of IM3 next summer will be Coulson :)

I'm just curious how the next film will go since Thanos will obviously be involved. Will the story be based off the Infinity Gauntlet arc? Appearances by Adam Warlock and Death? Or will there be a story involving the Cancerverse and the Revengers? Let the speculation begin.

OK, I've seen it three times. (I may have a problem. lol)

The only thing I could have hoped for that is not in the movie, is that I had imagined Tony Stark and Steve Rogers would bond over the fact that Steve had worked with Howard Stark. Nick Fury was really able to get Tony's attention in Iron Man 2 when he mentioned his father. I thought I would at least get to see them have a conversation about it, not just a small mention by Stark. I figured he would have some questions about his father he would want to ask. I imagined how the scene would play out as soon as I saw Howard in Captain America.

Also, I would have more of an Avengers theme music. A little track that is highly recognizable here and there throughout the movie. Something heroic and moving like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Superman, or Star Wars. Something that when you hear it, is INSTANTLY identifiable and linked to the Avengers.

My OTHER question is, about the aliens. They appear to be heavily armored organic life forms. Why do they all of a sudden just switch off like battle droids from the Phantom Menace when Iron Man destroys their ship with the nuclear weapon?

None of the above hinders my enjoyment of this movie in the least bit. When does the blu-ray release? I want the super-deluxe version!

I over all really liked the movie. If I find anything to complain about, it's the guy playing LOKI. He's such a skinny, scrawny, physical presence. He didn't have the gravitas to really sell me as a horrifically evil man. Don't get me wrong, the guy's a pretty good actor. And he's got a creepy smile. But, eh, in the end, I wasn't all that a-scared.
