the "vintage" footage also looks to be using way too accurate props (that Rebel blaster, specifially) for something filmed so down and dirty....
But the documentary said that they were loaned the same actual props that were used in Star Wars, so of course they would look accurate.

No, it doesn't. It claims they somehow got a license from Fox to make this thing, then spins a wild story about a police raid on the filming because they were concerned the "costumes and models" had been stolen from a Fox storage facility - which we know couldn't have been the case.

Also, that Han Solo at 3:25 sure looks like Jimmy Siokos....

My B.S.ometer goes of the rails on this whole thing....

    Definitely a hoax.

    It's essentially a fan film.

Hey, if it ends up anything like Black Dynamite, I'm down.
Heck, I'd love to see a modern/vintage blaxploitation Star Wars film. Some of those movies were great and Black Dynamite is pure gold.

The three minute trailer debuted at San Diego, and it was playing across from us all week long. Micdavis and Onigiri must have seen it as much as I did.

It was professionally shot, well-acted and hilarious. Rickprops did the Falcon dashboard, and there's a femtrooper slap-fight. They played it four times an hour every day and I never got sick of it, if that means anything.

HOLY CRAP!! THE LOST TRAILER WAS FOUND!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Apparently it was just recently found in a storage room of an old movie house in Harlem!

It's frakking awesome!!! I guess they premiered this lost cultural treasure at SDCC last week. Here's a bootleg someone filmed of the premiere! I hope some day they'll put the full-res trailer online so we can get a better look at it!! In the meantime, check out this bootleg of Blackstar Warrior!...

Dude - it's not real - it's just a fanfilm, and the "backstory" is a hoax... the visual effects are beyond what was capable at the time (especially for something like this), and I've already found resumes online from guys who list themselves as digital effects artists for the fanfilm... and if that doesn't convince you, the femtrooper costumes are obviously modern...

I came across this video on the blog. Not sure if they were behind it or not, but it's pretty funny.

It's not real. Look at the very last shot. The last frames look like something out of the prequils and not consistant with the OT. Sounds like a bit of making up history to me. Has anyone ID'd even one actor? Any current shot of those same actors so maybe we can verify age? Did Lucas let them borrow his motion control equipment for all those filming models? Did he let them borrow the filming models too? Doubt it.

no kidding. the guys behind this should have looked at the BLACK DYNAMITE trailers to see how to successfully spoof old blaxploitation trailers. it really could have been funny.

Okay, I guess I can stop pretending now--thanks for following my thread, as I tried to create a little mystery about my buddies' parody. The trailer is out now in Hi-Res., so check it out here:

YouTube - BLACKSTAR WARRIOR TRAILER FOUND!!!

I think it turned out great! My bud Jimmy always rocks as Han Solo, but what really took me by surprise was how great Lando was. The actor, Leonard Roberts, really nailed Billy Dee, IMO. (You may recognize him from Heroes, where he played D.L., Micah's dad and Niki's husband; and also, as Forrest, Riley Finn's right-hand man in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, circa 2000.)

I am also glad to see in action my other buddy's contribution, his Millennium Falcon--it looks terrific. He rendered it a long time ago, and I'm glad it finally got fly (on screen).

Finally, for those of you who knew I was bullcrapping all along, but played along to perpetuate the gag...thanks.

And for those of you who thought I was a naive, gullible and ignorant moron...thanks for believing in me.

Oh, and btw, I doubt it's necessary (I hope it's not necessary), but I should also clarify that the Chewie in the trailer is not me. I was asked to play the part but could not due to a scheduling conflict. So unfortunately they had to get a Rubies and just put a local tall guy in it. It's too bad it didn't work out with my schedule, because I would've loved to been a part of the shoot (which I'm told was a blast!), and contributed my Chewie to the authentic-look of the trailer.

That trailer, was about the ONLY good thing fem-troopers, the bad acting of my fellow 501st stormtroopers, a ****-poor chewie, and bastardizing terms like "I got a bad feeling about this" are good for. The Vader voice was fantastic. Jimmie has always been my favorite Solo re-actor. Solo-Reactor... sounds like a band name.

thanks for sharing Wook! this thing looks AWESOME!
