I knew about Genesis 2 from 1973 thanks to either scifi or TNT way back when. Then you have the sequel Planet Earth from 1975 which isn't too bad and expands things more. And finally is Strange New World. They all were pretty good with nice sets and models but just never caught on.

Anyone else remember these? Sadly he also had the Questor Tapes and another pilot about demon hunters or something around this time and they're not as good.

I think Spectre is the other one you're thinking of.

Yeah that was it. I just can't get into that and the Questor Tapes, oddly enough the robot in Questor feels alot like Data from next gen.

I really remember Genesis 2 and The Questor Tapes. I liked the Questor Tapes and was bummed the show never materialized. As for the others, I know I saw them but I really don't remember them.

But I also remember liking Holmes and Yo-yo around that age.

I loved Questor as a kid, and yes Data was based on him. Gene had this thing about exploring humanity through the eyes of a non-human character; Spock, Questor then Data.

The Trek episode "Assignment: Earth" was meant to be a pilot for a show about Gary Seven helping human society through tough times. The Questor Tapes series was to be the same thing. When Gene had an idea he liked, he tried every way possible to use it

Planet Earth wasn't a sequel, it was a rework of the concept as a new pilot. Then Warner Bros. did Strange New World without Roddenberry as another redo.

Ah i thought it was a sequel as it had the same sets in spots. That makes sense though. I think Genesis 2 would have been the best show out of all of them.

I don't know that I ever made it through the whole pilot, but I saw the first 30 minutes or so of Questor several times on NBC. Even at that young age I griped about the discontinuity between how he'd attached his ears all wonky and then appeared perfectly human a few minutes later.

I liked Earth 2. I once dreamed, as a child, that I was in the movie.

Assignment: Earth would have made a great series.

I have a copy of the Questor script pilot and I didn't even know it was actually made.
