2012 Movie Awards - 2013 Oscars - 85th Academy Awards

Re: 2012 Movie Awards

Jeez, really? Guess I'll have to check this movie out. I saw trailers for this and thought it looked awful.

Re: 2012 Movie Awards

Never seen it either but I will now. Congrats to Kathryn Bigelow for winning another Best Director award. The Hurt Locker was amazing so I expect nothing less from this movie.

2013 Oscars

I see this forum has a few polls on it. How about some Oscar polls? Maybe one for who we predict will win, and another for who we think deserves to win. I'm sure people will comment on overlooked nominations as well.

Re: 2013 Oscars

The only best picture nominee I have seen so far is "Beasts of the Southern Wild". It was an odd little film, not that good. Really want to see Argo.

Re: 2013 Oscars

How about some Oscar polls? Maybe one for who we predict will win, and another for who we think deserves to win. I'm sure people will comment on overlooked nominations as well.
We can have a poll for members to predict their winner for Best Picture. Members can list their desired winner in the comments if necessary, while voting in the poll for the movie they predict to be the winner; as multiple polls/thread for the same category of question will be spreading out the results and discussion. But I wish we could have the option to list different categories in the same poll.

I am glad to see Life of Pi getting so many nominations, if not any other it deserves the win for cinematography. But I am disappointed that Ben Affleck didn't get the nomination for directing.

I'd like to see Zero Dark Thirty win best film since I already like Hurt Locker so much!

Visual effects? That's a tough one. I loved Prometheus', but Huk just felt so real in Avengers!

Re: 2013 Oscars

my predictions:

BEST PICTURE

  • Amour
  • Les Miserables
  • Lincoln
  • Zero Dark Thirty
all of this are equally good. i cant say i prefer any of them. i do however hope its amour, as it comes from austria :D

BEST ACTOR

  • Daniel Day-Lewis, “Lincoln”
  • Hugh Jackman, “Les Miserables”
both were incredible performances, anyones guess. both are great historical figures, but im guessing it will be lincoln.

BEST ACTRESS

  • Emmanuelle Riva, “Amour”
have no doubt here. it just blew every other performance away

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

  • Christoph Waltz, “Django Unchained”
personal preference, i just thought he was fantastic

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
  • Helen Hunt, “The Sessions”
BEST DIRECTOR

  • Michael Haneke, “Amour”
  • Steven Spielberg, “Lincoln”
im guessing this will go to spielberg.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

  • “Amour”
  • “Zero Dark Thirty”
im debating as to how far zero dark thirty is an "original screenplay" still, its probably gonna make it

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

  • “Lincoln”
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE

  • “Wreck-It Ralph”
no question here

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

  • “Amour”
if not best film,at least best foreign film

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY

  • “Life of Pi”
this has one of the most beautifully done cinematographies ever. i didnt actually like the film, but it was beautiful

BEST COSTUME DESIGN
  • “Lincoln”
its amazing how good this was

BEST FILM EDITING

  • “Life of Pi
same as cinematography

BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING

  • “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
this one is just out of personal preference

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE

  • “Anna Karenina”
BEST ORIGINAL SONG

  • “Before My Time” from "Chasing Ice"
  • “Suddenly” from "Les Miserables"
cant decide between these two

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN

  • “Les Miserables”
it was just overall beautiful

BEST SOUND EDITING

  • “Life of Pi”
BEST SOUND MIXING

  • “Les Miserables”
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS

  • “Marvel's The Avengers”
just for creating such a realistic creature, and for the long single shot with cgi, this is probably the most deserved

Seth MacFarlane killed it with the opening and loved his dig to Oscars for not nominating Affleck for Directing. And Captain Kirk made the Oscars more awesome. Well deserved win for Christoph Waltz.

Yes.. Paperman for Animated Short. Got teary eyed every time I watched it.

So glad Claudio Miranda won for Cinematography for Life of Pi.

Life of Pi for Best Visual Effects, another deserved win. And they booted the VFX winner for time up with the Jaws theme just when he was talking about the company Rhythm and Hues going bankrupt.
