Jun 30, 2012 - Star Trek belts same as Demolition Man #1

    Hey guys,
I was told that both costumes used the same belts. Can anybody confirm this? Were they used in both productions or did ST fans buy them up as an item that would compliment their costumes because they looked right? Im looking for one for my SAPD shirt. Any idea where I should start looking?
    Thanks!

I can agree that similar props were used on Star Trek. But they're different studios so its unlikely it was the same items. I don't know if it helps, but if it helps here's a link to a prop seller that gives you a good look at the belt on the uniform. There is another uniform on auction with a belt as well.

Most Trek uniforms didn't have belts, but the few that did (like the WOK maroons) don't remotely look like the DemoMan belt. Not really understanding how someone could have made that connection.

This probably refers to the Abrams 2009 movie, and indeed in that film they seemed to be wearing some kind of web belt with the holsters for phaser and communicator attached. Probably vacformed plastic holsters.

Buckle is in the back. During the film you see somebody buckle the belt in front and then slip it around to the back.

He's talking about the 'Mirror Mirror' episode of Enterprise.

Star Trek Enterprise used the same belts from Demolition Man in season 4, a 2-part episode "In A Mirror, Darkly". It was an alternate universe that was first seen in TOS where Star Fleet was an evil empire that was only interested in conquering alien races.

This makes sense. But I'm curious about whether you mean they are literally the same (reused) or you mean they are simply the same style? These are Sam Brown military style belts and have appeared in films since film was invented especially war movies. There must be a zillion of them floating around.

The belts have a zipper teeth detail lining the edges of the waist and shoulder cross-strap. I own a SAPD uniform from Demolition Man and used to own a Terran Empire ISS Avenger jumpsuit used in the Enterprise episode "In A Mirror, Darkly". The belts are the same.
As far as I know, Enterprise rented the belts from Warner Brothers.

Good to know. I was never much of an Enterprise watcher so I had no idea of this specific use.

That sounds about right from what I was told and that picture confirms it. I will surf a couple Trek sites and see if I can track one down.

    Thanks!

Check with Martin Netter. He has some of these belts left and wants $500 for each. I have had email contact with him about them but that was much to high a price. His website is www.filmwelt-center.com

He is a german collector and has hundreds if not thousands of Star Trek items. He is the one that informed me that he purchased the leftover belts from Demolition Man and that Enterprise rented them for a few episodes.

    Good Luck.
