SGU Stargate Universe Destiny table lamps

They must have been spirited away somewhere
As they dont appear to have surfaced since as replicas
... maybe Rodney Mckay bought them ?
...... So If you'r reading Rodney, I have your screen used briefcase from SGU
...... Maybe we can do a swap ? :) :) :)

I was actually wanting one of these. My theory is that the crew and stars maybe nabbed them. Trying to find pics are tough. I've got a ton of screen captures I got to maybe try and replicate one. If one comes up for sale you know i'll be trying to get in on it.

Maybe Andy might think of making one of these after all of his current projects are finished.

I know who has the lamps that VIP sold and it's not McKay[1]. I asked and they won't part with them, not even as a loan, for any reason.

[1] I'm told by a reliable source that David Hewlett does have one of the Destiny shuttles stored somewhere.

.... and will they be making replica's ?
.... or just keeping them spirited away never to see the light of day again ?

I have a bunch of the master prices for this lamp, not all but a lot of them .
I scored them in a prototype lot from VIP along with tons of other nik nak parts and mold masters
Between the two of us we might have all the parts to make our own?

ah ok, so at least from what I can see the pieces that the bars and feet are connecting to seem like they are air conditioner parts and metal tubes a metal plate to help hold the bolt feet in place and not too sure about the top, I just found this though

Official Stargate Website: Photosynth - Explore the Destiny

and I was able to get some good pictures of it

I see A LOT of plumbing bits on that. It really looks like it would be easy to replicate with some higher res photos if anyone could find them. The feet look like standard compression fittings connected to some pipe with some nuts to hold them in place. MAYBE 3/8"???

Same with the surrounds around the light itself, 3/8" copper tubing with a couple of compression 90* fittings on the ends

I'd be totally down for a rep of one of the lamps. I too noticed it was a bunch of plumbing and aircraft fittings. This was one of the big things I was waiting to pop up on the VIP auctions and I checked weekly and didn't see a single one come through. I'd heard there were two auctions from VIP but searching, I didn't see them. Looked for images and not a whole lot out there. If you have them on itunes in Hd you can get some good screen captures. Noticed the stand for the kino's from the trial and Gin's interview. Would be easy enough with a lathe but just something about the screen used part. The kino ball stand was another I kept an eye out for and didn't see that come up at all.

Hopefully one or both of you guys do a replica of the lamp. I'd be totally down for two of them when they're complete.

Hilarious ... just re-watched SGU on Netflix and thought to myself - "Going to make one of those lamps". Googled some pictures and thought "Miners lamp" and I've just purchased something kinda similar in the form of an English miners lamp from eBay. Now I've just seen this thread and that 'is' the lamp .. haha. Oh, well. Will see if I can get one of those too.

The bit that's got me stumped though is the copper'ish looking round slotted/castle nut's that are on the side plus the top of the lamp. Does anyone know if they're just some moulded plastic thing or whether they're actually a "nut" of some sort?

Those nuts are specially made for SGU. I know as I have the Original 3D printed tray of them that was used to make the molds.

Here is my replica that I sell

The base lamp is the correct one but was a nightmare to get from India, in the end it took about three months and cost with shipping and tax about £160.

Thank you for your reply :) Very much appreciated. Aww. Slight shame, I guess, as in my head I'd hoped to be able to obtain a similar machined nut; having found a couple that I'd wondered with the aid of an angle grinder "might at a stretch" look similar?! Hmm - *ponders*..... much like cleaning/shaving up domes for the feet.

Very very smart printed tray. Hmm. I've drifted off in my brain with magical wonders such as "could it be reverse engineered" i.e. mirrored to create a mould to cool - lead - for example? Lot less heat required than say, copper or brass for that ! ;) .. and give that 'metal' finish. Then you could tap the resultant casts or just rivet them maybe?

Ouch. £160's quite a bit. I had looked at their site and my first impression was trade as there was no instant commerce function. *ponders again*
