Aug 1, 2012 - Profiles in History Hollywood Auction hammers $5.7 million dollars #1

Premier auction house, Profiles in History’s two day Hollywood Auction #49 has concluded today and the hammered total for the two day auction ($1.2 million yesterday, and 4.5 million today) was an astounding, $ 5.7 million dollars* not including bp. If factoring in the buyers premium, the amount is $7,011,000 !

The majority of the 1045 lots sold and there were some pretty amazing prices realized.

The Steve McQueen 'Le MAns" watch was insane going for $650 000 before fees. The Star Wars helmets at over $80 000 each. I did manage to get a camera that belonged to Makeup great John Chambers for $600.

Since that is the ACTUAL money spent, why wouldn't you include it? Let's call a spade a spade. The hammer price is an arbitrary construct. Profiles makes 30% of the total $7 million spent = $2.1 million

I just noticed your comment today Don and apologize for not responding sooner.

Your comment is incorrect as all available auction totals were included in my post and original article. Both hammer and total. I try to include whatever amounts are available at the time of publication and usually put the hammer price first, as auction totals can vary depending on the method of bidding and payment.

I enjoyed your articles on the Galileo. Very informative and interesting.
