New Harry Potter amusement to display props
hi,
Here is an exclusive we got from WB this week-end. Leavensden Studios will provide next year a brand new amusement dedicated to HP. The tour will last 3 hours, during which you will be able to walk accross various authentic pieces of HP sets, including original props, costumes, and more. Leavensden studios will be located 20 miles from London. More info to come, but it sounds great. |

Re: New Harry Potter amusement to display props
They announced this about a year ago. I think its cool! I will definitely have to get on a plane and go to the UK (even though I'm terrified to get on a plane). I wonder how it will work though because they said they destroyed the sets during the battle scenes. Are they going to rebuild them for this? I know the articles says the Great Hall will be restored.

Yes.
From what we have been told, you'll be able to proceed rotoscopy in real time in front of a green screen on a authentic nimbus 2000... |

Having walked that set during the production of Deathly Hallows, I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. It's an AMAZING set!

Re: New Harry Potter amusement to display props
Does anyone know exactly WHICH or how many of the Sets will be tourable? I assume The Great Hall, Dumbledore's Office, The Gryffindor Common Room, Hagrid's Hut, etc.

Re: New Harry Potter amusement to display props
I can only assume this is related, but the Pacific Science Center (Seattle, WA) hosted Harry Potter The Experience right around the release of DH1. It was a self guided tour of film props, with some loose arrangement to look like Harry/Ron's Dorm room, the Herbology Greenhouse, the great hall, etc. It was mostly dressed up display cases.
It was very interesting, and the set pieces, costumes, and such were gloriously detailed, but at the same time it had a very museum "no touching" feel too it. Billed as "interactive" the tour boasted wearing a sorting hat, pulling up s rubber wailing plant thing, and buying merch at the end. Staffed by Harry Potter nerds (sounded like real brits too!) the show was also a very no-photos enforced vibe. I assumed this was standard until a similar star wars exhibit some months later where any photography was allowed (no tripods or high-def video though). I have no doubt this affair will be more permanent and authentic than a traveling display, but at the same time I don't find it surprising that they won't allow kids to jump on Harry's bed, or fling Dumbledore's wand too and fro. You'll poke your eye out kid...magically. |
