Jul 20, 2012 - The latest addition to my Star Trek collection ... only 12 feet long #1

Here's my pet checking out the latest addition to the collection on delivery day last month ...

and she couldn't resist posing with the saucer ...

I think this is a great image of it being unloaded ...

Of course it's the Enterprise D saucer section model used in Star Trek: Generations (1994) for the crashing landing sequences on Veridian III. I posted many more photos of the model as well as some shots of it on location during filming in '94 at my site in the following article:

Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: The U.S.S. Enterprise D Saucer 12 foot filming model from Star Trek: Generations

It's still hard to believe that this item is part of my collection - it's definitely a once in a lifetime type of acquisition for me, and a thrill to have.

Very cool! Now you need to find a proper display space for this!

That's a wonderful piece. I wish I had read about this on Alec's blog just a bit sooner -- you beat me to it. Please take good care of her and congratulations! =)

Thanks, everyone, for your kind remarks! I've already installed air conditioning and am partially complete on plans to fully insulate the garage door and ceiling; so the model will never be exposed to a harsh outdoor environment and will not experience any great temperature extremes. Regarding the thought about completing construction of the ship; I don't plan to alter it at all as I do think of it as a "complete" screen used model; but - interestingly, I do also own a pair of Enterprise D nacelles from the huge model that was on display at Star Trek: The Experience. There is one against another wall in the garage ...

Here's another pic showing the other Nacelle on display inside my home. It's just outside a room containing my full scale partial TOS Bridge replica (a project that spanned the last 12 years or so; characterized by long breaks between periods of heightened activity.)

Here's a link to a post on my site with many more images of the simulated Bridge environment: Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: Simulated Bridge Environment Update III

Am I crazy? Or should all homes have a bridge environment!

At this point I think the dog is a shapeshifter keeping eye on all the federation technology.

    Very insightful, CessnaDriver, LOL.

Here's the shapeshifter keeping an eye on more Bridge equipment - this time TNG as opposed to TOS - in a different room. (The Captains Chair and Ops console are from the Star Trek: The Experience attraction ... though they came without their LCARS panels and so have some simple homemade replica ones in place.)

    Many thanks, Shizman!

More photos of the TNG Bridge furniture are posted here:

And a fairly detailed measurement study of the Captain's Chair can be found here: Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: Star Trek: The Experience TNG Captain's Chair Measurement Study

I couldn't help but notice that you are a fellow Canadian. I was born and raised in Toronto; and spent almost 30 years in Ontario - mostly the metro Toronto area - before heading to the States in 1990. (I've been a U.S. citizen for many years though; and so have dual citizenship.) One brother attended the University of Waterloo; not far from your location.

Very cool piece for you collection and nice seeing your "bridge environment." I have done extensive study on all of the bridge dispalys;so if I can help let me know (also check out my site at: tosgraphics.com).

    Thanks, Will.

You should see this post filled with some photos of the TOS bridge panels that I was allowed to shoot in the TOS bridge replica that is part of the Star Trek: The Exhibition attraction; when it was on display in Detroit in 2009:

    Yep, a Canadian Trekkie here.

I'd love to change some of the rooms in my house to a TNG theme. I'm so jealous of your props. I love the Ent D too. You've got a piece of movie history, regardless of what anyone thought of the film it was in.

Thanks again! The only other "large" Trek screen used fixtures in my collection are an Enterprise E Bridge console used in the last three feature films with the TNG cast; and a portion of the NX-01 Bridge wall console from Star Trek: Enterprise ...

And I am very happy that I could be the guy who keeps supplying Gerald with all this cool stuff.

Gerald has been very helpful whenever we have needed to authenticate TOS items, and we have become good friends. It is nice when I can help friends in the hobby get items they love.

And especially when I don't have the room for them!
