Hey everyone,
I recently happened across (can't really say how) a golden Idol statue.
I've been led to believe it could be from the original moulds, my source on this is certainly trustworthy, however not an expert on indiana jones props and neither am I.

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be amazing.

Yep, looks like it matches one of the nonscreen-used but archive idols.

This is a good score. This is the idol that no one can find in the movie BUT is in the Lucasfilm Archives.

Rather glad to hear that it seems to be what I hoped it was.

While I only currently have it on loan, lets just say it may have slipped and fell into a bucket of silicon... ;)

These aren't rare and the come up fairly often but I know that the ones that have come up for sale tend to be smaller than the archive idols. What is the exact height of this one?

185mm as far as I can tell from the pictures I took for reference. I'm not storing it at my home, so i'll break out the calipers and get you a measurement down to a point of a mm sunday or monday.

Shortly after production wrapped, Lorne Peterson had one of the Raiders idols on his desk at ILM. He left it there when he went off on a short vacation and while he was away, a new staff employee took the idol and made casts from it and this is where one version of the 'out in the wild' idols came from.

I'm not sure if this one came from that source but I do know that Lorne still has an idol that is stored somewhere in his very stocked shed at his home..

Regards

MARK

The one idol I have not seen casts of, is the stunt idol that is currently on tour with the Indiana Jones exhibition, that is also in the archives book. I do know that someone in California has an identical idol from what I can tell, that they apparently received as a gift from the production, but they are the only person that I know of.

Although there are many casts of frown mouth idols out there, trying to find one that is the correct height and not missing details from the feet or hands is not easy!
