Galactica 1980 Turbo bike photos

Off sight link, but if you have a interest in seeing some recent photos of the Galactica 1980 Turbo Land Probe flying motorcycle check it out. The bike is in awesome condition after all these years, and some minor fire damage from the Universal Studio fire of 1992.

Dude that is epic, is there a way to mod a dirtbike or moped to function like that? XD

Having witnessed the other surviving Turbocycle undergo a ground-up resto, let me tell you - this is a bike you don't want to ride. They fundamentally changed the front forks to the point where the thing is very unstable. The other Turbocycle got up and running (even thought the intent was to have a functioning display, not a rider) and a friend of the owner took it for a spin on a residential street. He was an experienced rider, but even he was scared of the thing. I sat on it while it was on stands and my neck got very uncomfortable very quickly. Very little of this has to do w/the fiberglass - it's more the bike stuff they messed with.

Re: Galactica 1980 Turbo bike photos

As for the forks being changed I think you might have the handle bars that were moved over a change to the forks. The forks on this bike have a few clips added for airlines, and adapter attached for the wings. The forks still appear in their original location. Why the handle bars have new mounts attached to the forks they had an adapter that has pushed the bars forward 9 inches. Then the placement of the foot pegs have been moved back also. I am used to riding this style of bike, and to me it was very comfortable in a seated, or riding position. I bought a Seca 650 Turbo. It has the closest look of Land Probe of any bike ever offered stock. A few reference pics.

Yeah, I think it had to do with being able to turn the handlebars. I think the lowering of the handlebars and the cowling made it hard to turn the front fork all the way over....... Don't know. Not a bike guy...... Was cool to see the prop come back to life, though.........

Re: Galactica 1980 Turbo bike photos

Yeah I saw some of the photos Jon took during the rebuild, and it looked like a big project to take on, but worth it since he went to all the extremes he did like the paint. That alone wasn't easy. The nice thing about this bike it came with paint from Universal Studios. I guess it was the left over from when it was originally painted.
