That thing's in rough shape. That's the problem with stuff like that.. it's not built to last.
I have seen things in much worse shape than this piece that Tom and Co was able to restore to a very presentable state. It won't look like it did when it came out of the mold, but then it is a 30 year old prop.Jedi2016 said:

It was certainly 'fragile' and, as Tom will tell you, I was very worried about shipping it from the UK to the USA but thankfully it traveled impeccably.
It was still very presentable in it's original condition but my main concern was/is it's preservation. The detail on the piece is amazing.
I had always been informed by guys on the production if ever an original surfaced it would be in such a condition, if not worse. In 25 years of collecting this is the only
honest example I have ever come across.

What is this piece made of? Foam latex?
Also I am looking for an expert in silicon-made prop preservation, anyone having a lead? Thanks

- ALIENS - Original Facehugger. PHASE 2 - Delicately fully cleaned; knuckle joints, lower cheek sacks and tail joint to body reformed and supported, seperated finger section reattached.

I can't believe one of these still exists! I'm glad it's in good hands, and I can't wait to see the finished preservation.
The work that is performed out of Tom Spina's studio is breathtakingly amazing.

I do believe this is the one seen in the Special Edition on Newt's father from the cut Hadley's Hope colony scene.

That prop is super cool -- lets be honest m ost props are ho hum never mind-- but that is a beauty-- and some of the gang here have super awesome props but that is right up there-- cudo's

ALIENS - Original Facehugger. PHASE 3 - Sympathetic and accurate restoration of the lower cheek sack required areas, body to tail joint and required knuckles - sealment of overall surface to guarantee preservation for generations to come.
ALIENS - Original Facehugger. PRESERVATION MISSION COMPLETED - Museum quality bespoke made display comprising of a deep circular base with hollow metal grid effect top and a descriptive plaque to the front. An electrically powered soft green ambient lighting glows from the inside of the base through to the glass dome on which the Facehugger is positioned. This is particularly effective within a dark environment.
My warmest thanks to Tom Spina Designs, it could not have turned out better Tom.
