Tomb Raider (2013) Journal and Paper Props

Once the first trailer for the game came out I found a close enough journal at Barnes and Noble.
It needs and embossed "C" in the upper left corner and some edging but otherwise it's a good match.

There are lots of notes and items Lara finds as she travels around the Island as well as he own entries she makes at her base camps.

Post it notes could be added to found items with her comments (straight out of the game) also illustrations of items and locations and notes of interest.

For those that have tackled the Uncharted journals you will know what I mean.

I plan on my 4th play though to note every coordinate listed at Every base camp she stops at.
Notes on the events and locations can then be added.

Other items.
Maps, Drawings, Photos, etc...

I have seen a few files pulled from the game showing letters and book pages, the photos in Lara's cabin aboard ship (there are 3 versions of her graduation picture), the Island map, wall paintings and banners, etc.

Perhaps someone here can pull high res images for us.

There is also the journal shown at the end of the game from the German Scientists working on the Island. (not Mathias's like people on the Eidos forum think it is)
The pages have lots of hidden (faded text) on them.

So I have been doing some work on weathering my journal after I added the edging and "C".

I used an exacto and sand paper to rough it up.
I found that if you over weather it take a damp cloth or sponge to the surface and it will re-moisten the dye and you can resurface any mistakes.
The dye inside really comes off so you might want to use gloves and something on your work surface.

I have also been working on a few inserts and will post them when they are complete.

I also found a site that listed the GPS coordinates for all the base camps and GPS cashes if anyone is interested.
 
Lovin' it! I'm going to be pimping my journal very soon.

Did you carve the "C" in with the xacto? And did you also carve the tooling marks, and then just darken everything in? That is what i was planning to do, but yours is looking awesome so far.

Id be interested in any of the insert items and details that you come up with. I don't want to have just plain pages in mine :)

I used a leather working tool, it is probably a sculpting tool that has a fine and rounded flat tip.
the edge on the flap I first used a sharp edged leather cutter.

For the most part I used a wet sponge on the leather then pressed the tool several times.

I then painted in the C with black acrylic paint and used it watered down on the edge and folds.

I'll be posting what ever I come up with.
If anyone has any ideas for things please post them.
 
Ok cool. I'm pretty sure I can find one of those tools at Hobby Lobby.

GPS coords are cool, and also I'd like transcripts of Lara's journal entries. Beyond that... maybe if we could find some drawing s of Yamatai related things to be printed out and tucked between the pages? I can see in the intro shot of her journal that there are things that look like photos or rubbings tucked in between the pages.

The Intro has a drawing of a budda (haven't found the correct one yet) then there is a page on khan's lost fleet (story idea that was dropped from the game), some other drawings and notes, the map of Japan, then the pictures in her locker and the ones behind her as she is listening to music before the ship gets hit by the storm.

I'm still looking for all the documents she finds on the island, I think the site I found all the coordinates has them it's just time consuming searching every page.
Ideally many of them should be in Japanese and then a translation to go with them.

I'm thinking that the first spy telegram should be in German since he sounded like he was German probably working at the research facility.
I'm working on that telegram right now.

There are also the photos in her cabin that you see when she returns to the ship.

I've been collecting pictures of statues and things that she finds on the island so they can be added to the journal.
I do plan to to a lot of hand drawings like in the Uncharted 2 journal.
 
That is awesome! It's going to be so great when you get it finished!

I'm going to be working on dressing up my journal after work tonight :)

I've had a heck of a time trying to find German telegrams and communication papers, this one was really plain and simple, the others have lot's of text.

For anyone that wishes a copy without the swastika I can arrange that for you.:thumbsup

The whole search for Khans lost fleet was scrapped from the game (just as well since Uncharted 2 already covered that angle)

Looking for pix of Kilimanjaro for items to go in the journal (if you don't know why then shame on you for not paying attention) I found this girls page.
She definitely has the Lara vibe going on.
 
Here's a few items I have been working on.

First off are things related to trips Lara and Sam took for vacations.
Passport page and Visa for Tanzania for their hike of Mt Kilimanjaro
Next is a Boarding Pass stub and Club Flyer for their trip to Bulgaria.

If you can tell me, where the Telegram is in the game I can take a look in the german hint book, I think all files are in it, Can't remember the story exactly anymore, so maybe some words are wrong...
 
It's in the cliff side bunker where the tomb of the Oni General is, where you have to drop the cargo elevator. i think it was on level 3.
 
Thanks, I checked the hintbook, sadly the content of the documents is not in there, but I know which document it is and where to find it, so luckily I beat the game with 100%, so I can check it in the game... I think next wekk, because I'm not home the next 3 days...

I'm almost done with my 4th play though.
Got to the last base camp and have gone back to finish all the areas I didn't have the tools to finish earlier.

Ideally there needs to be letters in German (operative and scientists), Russian (Solarii members), Japanese (Soldier, General, Hoshi) and Chinese (Ambassador).
