This is me dressed up as Zira for Wondercon 2009. The beautiful prosthetics were purchased from Apemania. I made the rest of the costume (except for the wig).

I bet you had to stop every 5 seconds for people to take your picture. That's amazing how well the whole thing turned out. Now here's my question, did you have a pic taken with your Mego apes?

As I've said elsewhere an outstanding costume.
The amount of work you have put into research and developement on this costume was intensive.
The results were certainly worth it though.

Oh fudge!! I forgot to do that!! I will next time. It was hard to move around at the con--it was crowded, and throngs of people would come up to me for photos. Even when I finally sat down to rest and never wanted to get up ever again, people would still come up to me and ask if I could stand up to take photos with them. Everyone was very kind though--I didn't experience any hecklers.Bizarro Lois said:

Hey there. We spoke at the Masquerade a bit. I was the Predator. Should've figured that you would be on the RPF. My friends and I loved your costume!
I remember you! I just joined the RPF, thanks to SargeantFang, and was kind of shy to post the Zira costume because of all the talent here. It was my first foam latex application and will not be the last. I just ordered some tools and I'm going to ventilate some lace. As soon as the tools are delivered, I'm going to be devoting serious time in the wig. If all goes well and I still have time, I'm also going to make the hair pieces for my hands.ptgreek said:

Sometime in the future I would like to recreate the shopping outfit that Zira wore from Escape. I'll keep my eyes out now to find just the perfect fabrics. I'll even make the lined swing jacket. I've been studying that costume for awhile.

My tool for ventilating lace came. I'm so excited. Tonight I'm going to make a pattern for the lace...and work on the forehead part of Zira's hair. I tried the tool for about two hours while I listened to the TV on a piece of lace to see how far it would get me. Not very far. Taking two hairs at a time and hand tying it with this tool, I got about an inch accomplished. Maybe I will get faster as I get more practice. Plus, I think the human hair I bought is too short. It's only 16 inches. Not sure if 8 inches is good enough to comb back into the rest of the wig.
