Been working on some concepts for WWII Captain America and The Flash

First up Captain America!!

I always loved the WWII Captain America costume

I started with the shield
I wanted to stick with the classic crest like shield, instead of the round

I sketched out a few shields with different top edges and stripes

I decided to stick with the 5 red stripes but opted to go with a more straight edge top
Add a little photoshop and you get.....

I'm not sure yet how I'm going to build the shield, but I'm enjoying the design

After the shield I sketched out the rest of the costume
I was trying to add a few things to make it my own and this is what ive come up with so far

The arm wraps/gauntlets will be leather but I'm not sure If itll be attached with buckles or tied

I bought all my fabric for the jacket and need to start drawing out some patterns for it

Next up is The Flash
I have always wanted to do a Flash costume but I could never pull off a full spandex suit so I went a different route
I always wondered what a WWII Flash would look like so I hit up google and started photoshop

I started with the mask using a WWII pilots helmet
I really liked this design and it got me wanting to do more

I liked this design of jacket, feels like WWII to me
(ps I dont know this man, just found the image on google)

I made another version with the golden age Flash logo

Still working on the ideas and concepts but Im enjoying where they are going

You're Ultimates jacket is in my reference folder lol
I need to make my own patterns too and your jacket build gave me hope I could do it lol

Really like the cut you have for the Cap Uniform.
I used similar star buttons for an Ultimates jacket.

Wow, thanks that is a great honor.
If it is any help, I pulled my patterns from an ACU top and my Class A jacket.

Changed the concept a tiny bit
I changed the color of the gloves to brown and darkened the belt color
someone told me the gloves and gauntlets looked a little too "Bucky"

Also sketched out a boot with the type of gaiters/leggings I want to make

Im thinking I'll most likely go with the black boots but I wanted to keep my options open
I made a few color combos but these were my favorite

Love the classic/original design style mash ups! Great work so far man!

For flash I'd consider this style Marine jacket,

or a Navy pilots jacket.

Just my take on which branches I'd expect Flash to be in, regardless everything's looking really cool!

Oh and for Cap I really dig your gaiter design, think the black looks best as brown shoes signify E-7 and above. Well at least in some branches.

Nothing really. I bought all the material I need for the jacket
Still need to make a pattern but have been really busy with work lately

Hopefully I can get back to it soon

Hello all! It's been a long while since I posted on The RPF
I have been plenty busy with costumes as of late with my prop and replica building team we call "The Lost Boys"
I started planning costumes for Niagara Falls Comic Con for 2015 and decided to FINALLY complete my WWII Captain America!

My skill level has increased a bit since the last time I posted so my view of the concept is evolving too. Not all will change but I am making tweaks as we speak
So for my return I will post a picture of my idea for the belt pouches

I did a lot of research on WWII pouches and Captain Americas from movies and comics and this is what I finally decided on

Hope to have some more new concepts to put up soon

Good to be back

Thanks guys!

Drew out a new concept for my gauntlets

arm.jpg

Inspired by Ultimates Captain America, sans the pocket on the gauntlet. Gloves are more "The First Avenger". I think it gives it a more old time, WWII feel

Threw it into Photoshop to test colors

Im personally leaning toward the all brown as it has that WWII feel to it

I have but I want to fit a certain way. And if I'm going to get a chefs coat, add the stripes and modify it to the desired fit, I might as well just make it

Ok, I love this! I am such a huge fan of taking characters and envisioning them in the 'real world'. Subbed and really looking forward to seeing this progress. Cheers!
