This project isn't dead!
Ok, so it's been awhile since I added updates, but that's not because there hasn't been, just haven't done it. Been busy with new job training, new schedule, and life in general.
So on to the updates!
I wanted a horn and ear style similar to this:
So I started with a set of domestic ram horns I got from a friend and did these.

And so I don't have to apply a wig or "movie makeup" I also added an aviator style cap to cover my head, styled like this:
but to fit my horns and ears, of course.
My cap so far...

So I keep working on it, slowly but surely.
It's looking great so far. Can't wait for more updates.
Here's the waistcoat progress. So far so good I think.

So I got my lost patterns back so I got started on the right side hoof shoe.
Also, I was pondering what kind of weapon this character should carrying and decided a crossbow! Not just a normal, boring crossbow though, why not a steampunk mechanical one powered by springs?
So been a little sidetracked while working on that. Helps pass the time waiting on my sewing friend to make my cloth parts for me (a skill I don't have, sewing.)
Finally got my waistcoat and It is beautiful! Unfortunately that means it also inspired me to do a little more to it.
Few new pictures of how my hoof boots look currently.

I need to solicit some opinions please.
What color "fur" should my satyr have?
I'm looking for something that looks natural, "real", and will match my skin tones.

This is outstanding! Beautifully done. Those ears look so real.
Are the boots and hooves comfortable?
That jacket is gorgeous too- I can't wait to see all of this put together!
Been watching all the updates with interest. Can't wait to see those shoes on a human!
Wish I'd seen this thread before I made last years halloween costume - was the first Halloween event we'd ever been to and we had a blast.
Great costume - looking forward to a 'dress rehearsal' shot.

Ingenious build and a lot of fun to follow! Can't wait to see it all together![]()
So I thought I'd share a little more.
Decided that my character needs some sort of medal to wear, so I designed this one in MS Paint.
And finished making this last night.
I may redo the ribbon, as I'm not sure I like it or not.
Any comments, upgrade suggestions or questions? Feel free to reply, I like the feedback.
Decided that instead of a chin strap on my aviator cap, I'd add a breather mask. Started on Sunday afternoon (8/26), nearly finished Tuesday night (8/28).
Added a "Polar Cooling layer", both filters dust from air, and cools it around your face as well!
Here's how the straps attach to the aviator cap.
You can see the strap hanging just under the ear.

And a few more, of the now "more rounded to fit my head" aviator cap.

So for a bit of protection, I am planning to use "turtle shells" as pauldrons for my shoulders.
That is a plaster "snake hide cave" I found on clearance at a pet shop. Good size and shape, but way too heavy. So I got a vacuum-formed copy and started sculpting in the detail.

Once I finish sculpting it I'll get a quick mold made and roto-cast a pair.
I love the creativity in this thread...Thanks for showing the in progress photos!!
