Hello there RPF - Liking the new section.. figured I would throw my stuff into the mix.
I love the Warhammer 40k universe, having been a fan of the games and the books for awhile I decided it would be fun to try and build myself a suit of power armor. The Emperor's Champion, being one of the more badass marines around in any given campaign, was a fitting character for me considering my fondness for melee weapons.
I had very little costuming experience when I built this, and initially constructed it almost entirely out of Pepakura (with accompanying resin/fiberglass/bondo), random bits and things I found in thrift and hardware stores, and by essentially smashing round objects into square holes to make whatever I needed to happen work. That being said I think it turned out all right.
LET IT BE SAID: I built this suit to my personal proportions. I am aware it is not entirely accurate to the usual scale of marines, nor is it 8 feet tall. If you want to see someone who successfully did a build of this style, look up Thorssoli's build - pretty sure he put it on the RPF. I am but a mere mortal, playing at being a Champion. Let me have my fun.
Sadly I had not discovered the RPF when I started on this project, but a build log for the original costume for those interested can be found here (Will reupload here probably since most of the images have expired it seems) Obscurus Crusade -> Black Templar : Azrael the Hammer (WIP)
I also made a thread here for the conversion to Emperor's Champion I did to it to get it where it is now. That can be found here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/emperors-champion-114095/
Additionally, a 30 second clip of the suit in motion can be seen here: Emperor's Champion at ALA 2012 - YouTube
Onward, to the pictures!
The charachter I created is based off of THIS miniature:

Hope you enjoy - I had a blast building it and wearing it. See you all at comic con!
