I looked on Quartermasters website and found one that looks close (couldn't tell if the jacket was an snap closer or a zipper from the picture).

Flying Cross Blk Breeze Bender with Liner Jackets & Outerwear (S48 215) - QMUniforms.com
Yes, this jacket looks very similar, but shanes has a button closure, and the important thing - this one from the link has no fur collar.

I dont think shanes jacket is stuffed with down or something. Take a look at this picture, here we can see the closure better:

To me, that doesn't look like a law enforcement jacket. Never seen one that had the "nylon with filling" look... plus, no badge tab. I think it's a generic civilian jacket. *shrug*

As for Shane's holster in his "off duty" outfit, I don;t think it ever had enough detail to accurately identify it. I may have to review some episodes again, but I think it was just a generic belt slide... it's entirely possible that it was just stitched together for the show.

His duty rig, if I recall, was a mess of leather and nylon gear... blech. No one mixes the two in real life...

If anyone has any decent pics of it, let me know!

Heres another goodpictureof shanes holster:

if you search for pics for shane as a walker, you can see that his collar is actually fleece not fur. that may help your search, and i think it may be filled with down or down like material, it looks puffy to me.

Nobody has an idea ?

New question: What type of jacket shane wears on the last episodes
of season two ? I mean the dark blue one with the fur collar.
Can anyone identify the manufacturer ?

Thank you
My guess is a Sherpa Trucker Jacket from Levis, although they don't seem to have it in blue:
Levi's Sherpa Standard Fit Trucker Jacket - Graphite - Standard Fit Truckers

As for Shane's holster, it's a basic nylon pancake holster. I believe his model is a Gunmate, but those are discontinued. Uncle Mike's sells a version that's very similar and more adjustable than the one on the show:

Hey! Just wanted to pop in and say I got more photos back of my uniform and my VERY STRONG ATTEMPT at making myself look Manry like Rick. I put it up on my website today with a description of where I got everything. I hope it helps future Rick costumers out!

Here's the page!

Thanks again for all your help guys! I'll probably be poking in from time to time as I try to improve upon the costume for next year's Dragon*Con.

Awesome guide to your build Avianna, good to see some female support!

I am beginning to think shanes sherpa jacket is graphite and looks blue because of the color correction in post or just the way the camera sees it.

Hi Everyone
I haven't posted before but have been watching for sometime and have completed my costume. So much has been contributed to this subject and there are so many people to thank I don't know where to start but a major thanks goes to Skruffy. Additionally, I finally have something noteable to contribute. If it isn't already common knowledge, I discovered the maker of the Walking Dead gun Bag in season 1 and fortunately it is still available. Below are the details. I'm about 95% on this. Any input would be appreciated.

Wheeled: No
Strap measurement: Adjustable shoulder strap to 42 inches

looks great! and my wife thought you were a guy until i told her otherwise, so i think your doing good on that part! but i wanted to ask about your badges, i have the same ones from ebay. it looks like you painted at least the one on your hat, did you have any troubles with this? and did you change anything else about them? Also i was reading you site and i think raising the pocket on your shirt would be a good decision, they do look low; probably because the shirt is cut for men. other wise it all looks great!

I used a primer on it before I painted it and I didn't use spray paint. (I would have, but the city of Chicago doesn't sell spray paint) I used acrylic paint on the primer that I bought from Joanns. About 5 layers. I didn't paint the one for his shirt, cause from all the photos I saw I couldn't find one that looked gold. They all looked silver to me.

BUT Spray paint would probably look better. And I saw somewhere in this thread that some people curved it a bit. I'd probably do that too. But right now I'm saving up for the other replica ones online or materials to make my own.

Hope that's helpful.

This is a great thread! Thanks for all the hard work y'all put into sourcing the bits and pieces.

I'm building a transitional Grimes outfit. The one somewhere about mid-season 2 where he still wears the sheriff shirt but starts wearing black jeans and has less stuff on his duty belt.

However, I've got to take issue with his holster. As Akin pointed out, its a 4" BBL k-frame swivel holster (probably Safariland from mid 1960's to 1970's era) that the shows costumer basically cut the closed end off of to allow the 6" BBL Colt to fit. My problem is that in the real world it just doesn't work that way. Especially on a drop holster I wouldn't want the muzzle exposed getting dusty, dirty, & banged up. Also, the front sight blade would probably get hung up when drawn. This at best just slows down your draw speed and at worst could get stuck. Not to mention damaging the front sight.

I know, I know ... Why am I trying to bring real world practicallity into a fictional world? Let's call it OCD.

I know I'd thought it was a Tex Shoemaker, but that one is non-swivel...

so i got my badges and hat cords in so i figured i would post a pic of the finished project. I originally ordered a hat from killerhats.com but it was the wrong size and fairly expensive so i returned it and then found this great inexpensive option from Spirit Halloween for only $15. and its decent quality; 100% polyester but its sturdy and the right color, and for being on a budget it was much nicer find. Badges i got off ebay, and then spray painted gold to be more accurate. the cords are from quartermaster. once my shirt comes back from the tailor and my pants come in ill do a full outfit post.

I've yet to get a real good look at Grimes's holster in order to figure out the exact maker, but it definitely appears to be a swivel model.

Unless you're a diehard that must have a screen accurate holster, I'd say any leather swivel holster would work ... If it's basketweave all the better!

Oh yeah, it is a swivel holster. I should have phrased that better... I had mentioned earlier that my swivel holster was made by Tex Shoemaker. It was actually made by Safety Speed Holster... my Tex holster is a non-swivel.

We'll probably never know the company that made the one on the show unless they zoom in on the back of the holster where the make and model is stamped... honestly, though, I think they've used at least two different ones. There are subtle differencess... likely no sane person would ever notice, though.

Honestly, basic swivel hlsters are pretty generic. As long as it's basketweave, it'll look cool!

I felt the same way. I really wanted to find a basketweave but I felt that it being swivel was more important. So found a leather black swivel for like 10 bucks on ebay cut the bottom off and LOVE it!

I had the same problem when getting my hat. Here ya go: How to determine your Hat Size for the proper fit.

Its always best to goto a store and try on. I measured at home and when I went to the local western store, had to go a size smaller.
