As a 40K fan since the first Rogue Trader book, I am in heaven reading this thread. Ah, to be able to spend a few days in your workshop!!

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor
I've made a bit of progress on the greaves. Here's the inside of the shin portion after it was cut apart:
![]() Here's the outside of the calf: ![]() The white parts are additional portions of card stock which were glued in place to give the fiberglass a shape to conform to. The whole thing was also framed with MDF on the bottom before I glassed it together: ![]() Tomorrow I'll do the same thing with the shin half. I still have to do a bit of work on the boot parts and then I'll be able to form everything below the knee. |

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor
I've been filling in the undercuts at the knee and ankle openings. Should be making pulls of those pieces today.
In other news, I pulled the first set of forearm parts yesterday: ![]() Here's some of it assembled: ![]() The elbow seam takes a bit more work than I'd like. Here you can see me grinding down the filler: ![]() We should be able to get the rest of the arm parts put together in the next day or so. Then I'll need to get back to work on the inside parts of the shoulder plates. Stay tuned... |

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor
this thing is going to be freakin' HUGE!!! I love the scale that you are working to with this build. I've seen a couple of other space marines on this board and they are really well made but I do prefer the size you are working with.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor
I saw something in the store the other day that it gave me a idea for the Power Fist, but if it could be modified, you could also put something over them and use them for the hands for the suit if you go full scale. The hands are pretty big, and here is a link for what they look like.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor
Good Lord...this thing is going to be huge when you're done with it.
I don't know how you expect to move in it, but kudos to you for sticking with it, sir! *salutes* |

A great project.... but what I lust after most is your workshop!! I just can't convince the wife that we don't need a dining room.

Living rooms are usually bigger... My workshop is in a converted chicken barn that's probably around 100 years old. If you look carefully, you can still see some of the old knob-and-tube wiring in the overhead. I like the notion that I'm building science fiction props and costumes in a barn that likely dates back to the Victorian Era. |

The feet/legs reminded me of Buzz Lightyear (I don't really follow warhammer). Looks awesome!!
