Re: This upsets me!
has anyone actually read the description on the page? it's hilarious! i think he's making it pretty obvious he's not selling anything extraordinary or magnificent quality so yes, if people are suckered into buying it then it's their own fault.
i particularly like the part where he states he's 6 feet tall and the helmet fits him perfectly. XD edit: also, since January... there's not one piece of feedback for one of these helmets purchased...are they really 'selling like hot cakes'? lol |

Re: This upsets me!
this reminds me of actual real trading in the 1700's.. buy molasses in the Caribbean, sail to boston and sell it to the rum distilleries for a tidy profit..
not everyone can do what we like to do here, and some people are willing to pay for that. granted some of us can make better versions, but i don't see a real problem with this.. i've bought nerf guns, modified them, painted them, and resold them for a profit before. i disagree with the 1.5m bull.. but the act of reselling a prop after it's been improved is fine. |

Yeah, I don't see a problem with this. Pretty clever, actually.
I'm sure the $1.5 mil is a joke, as in that's what a "real" one would cost. You know how some people are cute like that in their descriptions. It's salesmanship. |

Re: This upsets me!
Has anyone noticed that he starts his auctions at $0.99, that £29.01 under the retail value. So how can he be blamed for the fools bidding the price up to where ever it gets to?
I take my hat off to him. He buys retail helmets tarts them up, then auctions them at $0.99 and gets near on $100! Now that's business. I wish I'd thought of that.

Re: This upsets me!
A few times I took a $12 horse girth, dyed it brown, and resold it on ebay for $60. Was the material and time I took to dye it worth $48? That's up to the buyers! I didn't misrepresent it, but at the same time I didn't offer a tutorial. Knowledge and effort, even if minor, is worth something.
Someone many of us know sold the top to a junk sprinkler head with a little silver weathering added for $38 on ebay. He called it a "droid ring" (as in, "Look sir, droids"). As long as you're not misrepresenting or misleading people, nothing wrong with it. Scott |
