Great looking so far! Looking foward to the progress of the sleeves. The scales remind me of fence grating. Did you use that for the impressions?

Re: Ultimate Captain America Scales Costume Update 7/19/11

Hey Guys and Gals,

I have not updated this thread in over a month!
Last night while I had a little down time waiting for some key componets for my Darth Knight I thought Id put a little work into this! I finally got the arms put on. I need to trim the scales as im not sire I like uneveness on the arms. I also have to make a harness and plan on covering the seams of the arms with grey strapping. Give it a little more of a "movie feel" I also have to add the stars and circles on the arms and do some finishing and touch up painting. Its got a small issue above the right shoulder that need addressed and i had to shorten the length by about 2 1/2 inches. Any way here is where it stands for now.

As always thanks for looking!

Looks great Jeremey! Love the way you cut the shoulder/arm pieces... plus I did that ragged edges.. aka following the pattern.

Re: Ultimate Captain America Scales Costume Update 7/20/11

Since Im Still waiting on Vader stuff, I thought Id do a little more on this, so here is a small update!
I LOVE the harness rigging on the cap movie suit but Im not a huge fan of the way it comes together in the shoulders, since Ive kinda strayed a little on this suit I thought why the hell not stray a little further so here is what ive come up with!

Im going to do a grey or olive drab (not sure which yet) Harness rig, partially because I like it partially because I want to cover the seams in my caps shoulders.

Here is the movie style back harness piece that takes the harness strapping from 2 straps to one. I wanted the suit color to show through thats why there is a hole in the middle.

Ok here are the pieces that will attach the harness to the belt, they go pointy end down and I plan to attach a clip to the bottom of them to clip the harness srtaps to the belt. I only need 3 but it was just as easy to make 4.

The above is all relitivly movie style rigging! Here is where I change it up a bit. My idea here is to rul the straps through the pieces so it is free floating and can be adjusted. There will be a 1" strap that goes across my chest to avoid slipage, not the other 2 holes are for the shoulder straps, the straps will follow my suits shoulder seam going ove it wrap around the back of my arm come underneath and attach to the other strap holder! It sounds complicated but its not. I like this rigging for the shoulder a little better that the area on the movie suit that is all sewn together in the pit area.

Well thats it guys!!
Thanks
Jeremey

Re: Ultimate Captain America Scales Costume Update 7/22/11

Ok Kiddies,
We are on step closer to finishing this bad boy.
I got all the harness and rigging the way I wanted it and even added a 10 pouch ammo belt. I was going to go with grey harness but I liked the way the green looked so much better. I also cut the sleeves flush across (against the advice of jordan) not sure why I did it but once i did the first one i was pretty much commited, LOL!
I still have to paint the red and white stripes on the back, make a helmet, a belt buckle and find a pair of pants, otherwise this is nearly complete. Ill post pics once it is.
Couple pics, Here is the front

and the back

As always thanks for looking!

Re: Ultimate Captain America Scales Costume Update 7/25/11 Finished!!

Ok,

Guys and Gals
We finally got this finished!
Here you go!

We think this turned out pretty, Im not a big fan of the camo pants and the brown gloves but its what I had around the house! It was never my intent to complete the bottom of this costume as (pants) as people have to many options for pants out there, LOL! Id like to aquire a set od Olive Drab Cargo pants for what Im looking for! Oh ya we also put a Circle and star on the shoulder but it was not until after the pics, LOL!
Alright Everyone thanks for sticking with this one and checking in on the updates! I think were done with Cap for a while!
