Tron Legacy Costume

Crazy glue. It worked great on the leather, and pretty well on the pants. It only worked sort of well on the gloves. Since they "move" around so much the glue kept cracking. I had to apply about 10 coats before the stuck well. The gloves are actually really rigid now because of it.

how did you apply it to your clothing, cuz im having a hard time applying my red tape to my hoodie

Can you apply vinyl or some other flexible fabric with a surface more accepting to tacky adhesive on the back of the tape shaped in the same pattern as your reflective tape. That way the vinyl will serve as a "primer" for tape...

This will also prevent using glue and ruining the integrity of the fabric.

cyvaris nice costume :thumbsup

I came across a place that sells 1/8" non blemished material that izabel used. It's microcell, basically it's minicel foam but denser. I'm confirming if I can get a 48 x 72 sheet. 60 x 72 would just be too large for shipment and fit through my front door without a lot of hilarity ensuing.

I'm really hoping they will cut a custom sheet. Using 1/8" might be enable me layering vinyl and sliding in the el tape on the inside of the costume. 1/4" inch seems slightly bulky and may not provide the sleekness I'm looking for.

I'll let everyone know if they pull through or not and give the site information if it isn't a dead end.

If you are split connecting different size El Tape then yes because you will be laying then side to side. But the way I did my End of Line Club waitress dress, I have a bulk where the fold of my 90 degree angles are. That then created an overlay problem where my lines are not looking straight when the El Tape is lite up.

All I can do to fix the bulk folded part is use 3M clear tape, cuz it is damn strong, to press and hold the fold down in place then to fix the overlapped part some white electrical tape, or the white latex I used since my dress is white to cover the part of the El Tape that is causing the overlap lighted area problem.

I will have to take close photos of before and after to show you what I mean, I am sure this makes no sense unless you have done this and experienced yourself ;)
I kind of get what you're saying, but pictures would definitely help. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on the foam type. The more I look at the 1/4" thick sheet I bought the bulkier it seems to me, so I may just put it up on the junkyard and go for the 1/8". I found a place semi near me that sells it so I'll check it out after work on Monday since I'll be in the area.

48" x 72" is $11.99 each x 2= $23.98 and $10.95 for shipping. Not bad from this place.

Foam N' More And Upholstery, Michigan USA is the place and I spoke with Christina via e-mail. They are pretty prompt with their responses and have been really helpful. They accept paypal invoicing as well.

This actually can be sanded but I am going to wait until it comes in to determine what type of sandpaper to get.

That's the same place I found. Good to hear they're accommodating with custom sizes and everything, though a half sheet should be plenty for me since I just have to do my legs, shoes, and gloves.

Well here we are, I am finished, and just in time for the con. Let me know what you think.

That looks great. Really good, really like the gloves. May i ask how you did those ? I'm planning on having gloves like Rinzler and not to sure what would be best to use on them. El wire,el tape etc

Again it looks great. Have funa at the con :)

That is reflective tape on his gloves which is a good alternative. But the effect only really works with camera flash. I think if you can get it to wired right EL Wire would be the best option for Rinzler

Nice I got mine about 6 days later. I hope to get some of my tape working next week. I am getting the last few parts I need Monday.... hopefully :)
I'm still looking for a cheap "close enough" young Flynn jacket, then it will be lighting-up time! ;)

Think I saw you at Megacon yesterday in the t-shirt booth. Nice jacket and costume overall.

Not too many Tron-related costumes yet, but Saturday is here...

Not completely off topic, but to anyone who went to see Suckerpunch this weekend: any notice how many freaking cameos were there? Including a Tron: Legacy light grenade?

Does anyone have a good link for the 1" EL Tape? I swear I saw that alot of people got it from Glowhut, but all I can find there or anywhere else is 1/2".
