I haven't seen many people wearing a comlink on their stromtrooper utility belts.
Is this considered 'canon' and if so, exactly where on the belt should the comlink be placed?

I've only remember seeing luke use one with C3PO in ANH... but maybe i could haev misses somthing?
And i would guess it should be worn on the edge of your belt but not on the fabric.

As mentioned above, I've seen quite a few guys wear them on the end of the plastic belt.... just above the drop boxes..
Still debating if to attach mine or not..

Didn't the original one fit into a spring steel clip?

I'd attach it. Are you doing a grappling hook too? Seems stormy equipment varied quite a bit....according to the needs of the particular scene.

Most of the comlinks that I have seen worn by troopers are on the left hand side of the belt on a spring type holder.

Weren't the comlinks made from plumbing parts and a Hovi mic tip?
