Spiderman costume worth big $$$

Wow people are willing to spend the cash on a well made Spiderman costume, one just sold for $3100 with 54 bids and 2282 views, thats actually his second one he sells. I wish I could afford one with the raised urethane webbings but I would be too scared to wear it.

I thought the same thing. Being a 21 year old college student Ill never have the money to get something like that, but wish I could. Id love to volunteer at the childrens hospital here dressed up as spideman, especially since I know no one else has ever done it, being in a small city in Canada.

I have heard the urethane webs like to break/snap and need to be repaired with regular wear. I would prefer one that has printed webs so it would be a comfortable costume to wear. That suit does look great though!

any one know why so much? they normally sell for 600-1200 for the same suit

I've never seen a suit with urethane webbing sell for that little. There are dozens and dozens of hours required to glue those on.

I too have seen this quality suit go for around that.
Makes me wonder what they are going to do for the reboot spidey suit? This one just seemed to be the ultimate design...

Well urethane is just a more expensive oil based rubber unlike water based latex, urethane wont dry out or rot but it's not as elastic and paint wont bond to it well because reoflex and rubber like urethanes are desinged for molding more then casting so like silicone nothing bonds to it well so it's not going to last while under alot of stress or use and if it's thin like the webbing it is only a matter of time, I think a casted PVC or Ecoflex would be a better option in the stress and paint problems just keep the sun light exsposure to a low like any material.

Other option don't wear the thing if you are worried about it, but nothing last forever any ways so might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Thats exactly what I ordered from Spidey4fun, the colors and the printed 3D webbing look fantastic, can't wait to try it on

I used to make these same suits using the kit that Schuurkes provided, and did a few modifications of my own.

These sell for big dollars because the people who buy them know what they are looking for. It also probably counted for something that Schuurkes was one of the 3 (now 2) major Spidey suit makers, and his video on youtube has 2 million views. To your eyes it might be "same quality for $X" but I can garauntee you that it was not. There are so many different variations to the quality of these suits you wouldn't beleive it.

When I made them, the kit of pieces was $1000. Mine sold for $4000 completed. It almost wasn't worth it to be honest; given the amount of time and effort it took to complete a suit.

It took atleast a couple hundred hours of sewing on a surger, painting the tops of the webs silver, and gluing the webs onto place. Even after all that time, most people who made these suits came out with a dozen or so major flaws.

These costumes are not nearly as easy as you think.. it's simple concept which makes it extremly complicated to do right.

I do not miss the hundreds of tedious hours it took to put one of these together.

Jedifyfe- Schuurkes more than likely posted that photo to show how the suit is put on and taken off. The suits have a "blind zipper" so it looks like a normal seem not a zipper. One of the biggest questions I got when selling a suit was "How do I put it on????"

The Spidey4fun $700 costume comes with printed webs, with urethane webbing is $2000, way cheaper and IMHO Spidey4fun does nicer work, the finish of his suits are top notch! can't wait to get mine

3000 is about right - You get what you paid for. It's not an insane price for one that looks like a Shuurkes suit (or might be one). They're rare.
